19.01.2022 ***BE SURE TO CHECK WITH SMA BEFORE UPGRADING STRING FUSES*** Blown fuses are not covered by SMA warranty. In some cases, string fuses may be upgraded if the input has been combined to one (as was in this case). It seems in this case that the single input to the inverter is sitting at the threshold of the 16A rating of the string fuse. Throw in some heat and full production around summer time and its enough to blow the fuse.... According to SMA in this particular case and having checked the panels specs, I was advised that I could upgrade the string fuse to 20A which should solve the issue. Its either this, or locate the installer to revisit the job (after 3 years!) and rewire the strings so theres more than one input into the inverter. Dont like our chances! This video has been made simply to make others aware that if youre considering installing a large number of panels and using only 1 string input on an SMC10000TL-10 inverter, this issue may occur and cost you time and money. Blown fuses are not covered by SMA warranty.

17.01.2022 The never ending story of yet another Eversolar inverter failing only to be replaced by a top grade brand - Fronius Galvo. This broken Eversolar was a 2Kw unit bit it had a max input wattage of 2.275Kw being delivered to it from the panels. 15.01.2022 SMA inverters which are wired to the AC output directly on the printed circuit board and bypass the supplied plug system (on the bottom of the inverter) will void the warranty instantly. SMA have confirmed by email to us that bypassing the wiring in any inverter in their range which has a built in AC plug system voids the warranty from the day of installation. Weve come across this issue quite a lot where the connectors used to connect to the AC terminals are poorly installe...d and create a loose connection and eventually (under load) break down and begin to arc to a point where the connection fails. Worse still, arcing has occurred and causing flashing and severe burning which then becomes a fire hazard. Due to the failed connection, the inverter shows an error because it cant connect to the grid and the customer is without an operating solar system. The responsibility and liability falls directly on the installer and therefore they are required to replace the inverter at their cost. All installers need to be aware of this issue and ensure that all AC connections are done using the provided plug system built into the inverter.

07.01.2022 Fronius IG Series up to and including IG30 (3Kw) inverters have two printed circuit boards inside them. One is a DC-AC board and the other is a DC-DC board. The TEST-COM error indicates that the DC-DC board is faulty. This board can be replaced on site but if your inverter is out of warranty it can be a costly exercise. 05.01.2022 This is becoming almost a daily routine for us now. Yet another Eversolar inverter has been replaced today with a SolaX. The Eversolar had the usual problem not being able to connect to the grid due to internal failure. DC and AC voltages were fine so it was a case of replacing it. 03.01.2022 If your Fronius inverter is scrolling between "Startup" and "State 301" like this video demonstrates it means the DC-AC printed circuit board (PCB) has stopped working. We can replace this board for you and get your inverter back up and running however in all likelihood your inverter will be out of warranty and it MAY NOT be worth repairing. 03.01.2022 This morning we replaced 2 x Kaco 1.5Kw inverters due to a "Failure DC Link" error. Because of the lack of support from Kaco in Australia, we decided to replace them both with Fronius Galvos. In the pictures below youll see one of the inverters demonstrating the printed circuit board failed components. On the top side of the board you can clearly see the burnt components and on the underneath of the board the damaged transformers (chokes) are visible by way of discolouring.
