Here we have Window Wipers, incorporating a strong deltoid and lat focus through the working arm. Secure one side of the strap onto calf and with working arm, draw the thera-band tubing up to the ceiling, keeping the elbow straight... like a windscreen wiper! ... Its all about the visuals! 25.01.2022 One of my PCYC Tuesday mat classes, enjoying some shoulder joint stretching at the beginning of their lateral & extension work. I simply love this version, which focuses on more of an anterior stretch, providing you don’t twist through the collar bones. The beauty of allowing gravity to enable the opening arm to gently lower to the floor, without force, is where the beauty lies in this exercise... one of which I like to cue straight after side lying thoracic openings. I wanted to acknowledge my wonderful client’s progress this week- completing Side Lifts during her Warm Up (for the first time since injuring herself), then continuing with the Abduction/Adduction component to the exercise, completing it with such fabulous form. 04.01.2022 As an instructor, I can see how easy it can be to become complacent in working out yourself, after a busy week of teaching, admin/book work, researching, cleaning, emailing, texting, phone calls... the list goes on! HOWEVER, one thing I have tried to do since owning Invigorate, which I feel has helped keep me motivated and passionate as an instructor and a mover myself, is to set goals, without a time frame or pressure or exam or show at the end... just something for me... to help me! My continual goal to improve upon upper body strength is never ending, so utilising the bosu in my workout this week was challenging and rewarding for my tricep push-ups. Find the correct placement of the pelvis in the centre of the bosu to avoid any sea-sawing throughout the body. 01.01.2022 The brilliance of offering mobility within your joints is often overlooked when training. Pilates can give just that- a chance to move in ways which ultimately create better mechanics. Here the ball is positioned behind the knee, the leg is relaxed and flexed over it. Hands are interlaced at the top of the shin and arms are used to create a circular motion within the hip joint. Relaxing the leg is key- let the arms do the work! ... The supporting leg can also be bent to allow for more support.
