21.01.2022 WE ARE BACK IN THE DOJO... We are starting back at the Dojo today, 23 June... Both junior & senior classes.... ... However there are some additional rules that we have agreed to. Please see a list following and let me know if you have any concerns. In line with the State Government and local Council’s COVID 19 restrictions: 1) Student are not permitted to enter Dojo if showing any signs of being sick. Symptoms may include one or more of either: Cough, runny nose, sore throat, fever, rash, sneezing, vomiting, diarrhea or conjunctivitis. Students must be symptom free for 24 hours before attending dojo. If you have allergies that cause a runny nose or sneezing please notify instructors prior to class so there is no confusion. 2) Students should check their temperatures before coming to the Dojo and will be required to use hand sanitiser before entry and as required during class. 2) The minimum 1.5m social distancing measures should be maintained at all times. 3) The kitchen and toilet will be off limits until further notice (except for emergencies). Please ensure you go to the bathroom prior to coming to the Dojo. 4) We are asking all family members to remain in their car whilst waiting for their kids and not to enter the Dojo. The instructors will bring the children out at the end of class. Please maintain 1.5m social distancing rules if walking your child to dojo entry. 5) At the end of adults class students are expected to assist with appropriate dojo cleaning as per the Council’s COVID 19 requirements. If you have any concerns or questions please ask instructors prior to attending the dojo. Brent Sensei

21.01.2022 We are extremely saddened by the news of Shuri jyo. It's the secound time it has burned down in a century. The last time was in world war when America invaided Okinawa. The state of the world was not good back then, and it is now an opportunity to reflect on the state of the world now. The world grew as Shuri jyo was rebuilt in the past, hopefully Shuri jyo will be rebuilt again, and the world will grow in a positive way as it did last time. https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20191031_08/

12.01.2022 People ask us if the CFA seminars in Okinawa are really hands on as far as the teachers are concerned, or do they just stand at the front and shout at the cla...ss. Well, they really are hands on as this young man will soon discover when he has a close encounter with the dojo floor, and the teachers train WITH you, they do not shout AT you. Fortunately, Brent is a student of Higaonna Sensei so he is accustomed to being thrown at the floor ands walls, in fact we brought him along on this occasion just to deprive our CFA members of that particular pleasure. High grade Okinawan karate teachers do not like large classes, which is why we limit the size of ours. They learned their karate skills in small groups, or even one-on-one from their teacher, and that is how they like to pass on their knowledge to the next generation. Therefore, it will often be the case that a senior instructor will bring three of four more high dan grade teachers to our seminars, and they will split the class into groups of four or five students who will then rotate from instructor to instructor.
