25.01.2022 Had a jib sheet break yesterday, right where it passes through the boom ring. Thought Id have a closer look, so I used the camera on the phone and magnified the ring up 10x. No wonder it chaffed the sheet. I applied some stainless steel polish to a bit of string and set to work cleaning it up. Makes quite a difference. Hopefully, it will be goodbye to broken jib sheets.

24.01.2022 Gone are the days of dust collectors, regatta trophies are now taking on a new look in AUS! This is definately a trophy which will be valued (for a while anyway) but it will need to be kept in good condition. Reidy - one sheet at a time and try not to scrunch it up it will be worth more on the 2nd hand market! VIC IOM Eddie Kennedy Round 1 Results : 1. Andrew Reid, 2. Lincoln McDowall, 3. Scott Fleming. All the results are on the ARYA website.

18.01.2022 Is that the call of FIGJAM coming from the West? It seems the RSAWA trophy cabinet might be getting on the full side. AUS championship trophy holders IOM, M, A, DF65, DF95. Still room for the 10R trophy though!

14.01.2022 Albany Great Southern Buster this weekend. 23 IOMs on a lake with a fountain right in the middle. So the info we got was that you could sail right over the top of this thing. Nobody had ever got stuck on it. WELL .. between races, one intrepid skipper managed to face plant their Cheinz smack bang into the middle of this thing. No names, no pack drill. But pretty funny nonetheless.

10.01.2022 Dougy & Jones pumped out a few tunes to keep the crowd alive. Heres Jones taking the lead from Doug. Humour? Yes too much humour!

10.01.2022 Final results 2020 Corona Cup Hot off the Press As suspected hot favourite Corona Virus won the event and finished off with quiver of first places with a self isolated 2nd place in his ever impressive Covid 19.... But the surprise of the day was that of Pan Demics brother Epi who came through with a fever of podium finishes with his reworked Ebola Mk 1 and secured 2nd place but not with out causing Team Corona a major headache. It was thought EpI Demic was masking his potential but we will see more in the coming months. It should be noted that Team Corona during the day, made a quick call to their sail maker and designer in China, Mr Bio Ceudical (BC to his close mates) for a much needed injection of advise which paid dividends for the overall result and the well being of Team Corona and their self promoted reputation. Unfortunately Pan Demic could not handle the clinical prowess of Ian Fectious who held onto to a well deserved third place and that included some anti viral approaches by Team Corona and head coach BC. All in all a great weekend and PRO Pete Re Dish who did a great job of containing the competition without any major outbreaks. Previously the infectiously bad behaviour that we have witnessed in previous major events has been subdued by the fantastic work of Mr Social Isolation and his workers that he keeps at arms length. Starting with the New Zealand National Championships for three days, followed by a couple of days R&R and then 4 days of top level competition in the inaugural Oceania IOM Regional Championship. The opportunity for high level competition in our part of the planet doesnt come around too often, so this is certainly something to aim for. So have a look at the event website - www.iomoceania.com and get your Expression of Interest in. Further details will be forthcoming.

01.01.2022 A really good explanation of Rule 18.3. One of the more poorly understood racing rules of sailing. 18.3 kicks in when one boat approaches the windward mark on port tack and completes its tack inside the zone AND the other boat enters the zone on starboard tack. Then, there is a great explanation about the best way to manage the situation if you are the port boat.

01.01.2022 Maybe a bit more backstay Mabo!
