20.01.2022 | Provence Centre Connections | Fr Joseph Guibert OMI was installed as Archbishop of Paris in 1871. One of Bishop Guibert’s significant projects was the construction of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Sacre Coeur) at Montmartre, to which he called the Oblates who organised a movement of prayer and devotion to the Sacred Heart. They laid the corner stone of the building in June, 1875. Angelo Orsoni was born in Murano, Venice and became especially skilled in making crystal..., coloured glass and aventurine. When Angelo set out for the Great Exhibition in Paris in 1889, he aimed to show the world that the ancient and noble medium of mosaic would be assigned a place of honour alongside the most avant-garde techniques, not only for religious works of art but also for secular art and decoration. Orsini’s name soon became linked to major projects such as the Sacre Coeur Cathedral in Paris. (Learn more about the history of Orsoni: https://www.orsoni.com/history-heritage/ ) And so continues the bond and connection between the Oblates and Orsoni’s historical and artistic mosaic creations. More to come....

20.01.2022 - Year 10 White Shirt Presentations - Prior to our Giving Mass last Thursday, the Year 10 men attended House presentations where they received their ‘WHITE SHIRTS’; an obvious sign that they are now being viewed as Senior Students. We wish them well as they continue this leadership role in 2021.

19.01.2022 - St Vincent de Paul Giving Mass - Last Thursday, as a College, we celebrated the Giving Mass in both Oblate Hall and IPAC (again due to restrictions). What a beautiful way to end our school year. The Year 11 men were asked to commit to being of service next year as leaders to ‘be the Hands of Christ’ in their dealings with others and to take the time to ‘reach out’ to those in need.... We were also able to witness the charity of this community in a visible way with some of the donated goods on display that will be offered to our local St Vincent de Paul societies, as they endeavour to reach out to the forgotten, the marginalised and the disadvantaged, as our own St Eugene de Mazenod asks us to do. 19.01.2022 - Year 12 Final Assembly - Following the Year 12 Celebration, the entire College came together last Friday morning to farewell our 2020 seniors. This event was also held on Lindum Oval and was a fitting farewell to a very special cohort who have experienced a senior year like no other before them. They have led the College well and we look forward to watching our ‘newest’ Old Boys go forth to love and serve. Best wishes to you all.

18.01.2022 - Year 12 Celebration and Valedictory - Last Thursday afternoon, together with their families we celebrated our Year 12 students. We acknowledged and recognised the contribution of our senior students across the diverse life of the College. As with the Year 6 Celebration event held on the previous afternoon, we enjoyed the uniqueness of holding this event outdoors on Lindum Oval. It was a true community gathering of care, prayer, pride and genuine love.

16.01.2022 Spring around the grounds - 29 November Succulent Sunday! Curly Jade is fantastic for filling in space between other succulents and that's exactly what we've done in 'succulent central'. If you look closely, you can see a purple edging on the leaves, which means it's thriving, as this usually only happens under the right conditions.

10.01.2022 | 25th Anniversary of the Canonisation of St Eugene de Mazenod OMI | Today, Oblate communities around the world celebrate the 25th anniversary of the date on which St Eugene de Mazenod OMI was declared a saint. This was the day in which the entire Catholic world saw St Eugene as a role model of faith and life. He has always been very special to the Oblates, but this date and event saw us share him with the world.

10.01.2022 Spring around the grounds - 28 November Our main roundabout has another edible plant - known as "society garlic". The leaves can be eaten and have a mild peppery onion flavour and the pretty flowers are often used for decoration on salads and desserts.

08.01.2022 - Year 5 Presentation & Celebration Assembly - Wednesday saw the culmination of our presentation and celebration events with our Awards Assemblies.
