18.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 9 Visual Arts student Milla Venturi Leach, whose artwork has been selected as an Honourable Mention in the 13-15-year-old category for her portrait titled Jemimah which will be displayed at Sydneys SH Ervin Gallery as part of the Young Archie's Exhibition. "This portrait is of my friend and teammate Jemimah. Driven, disciplined and a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court, she is also a warm, honest and generous person. It is t...hese two sides of her personality that I have endeavoured to capture in my portrait. The reference photo was taken after a tough weekend of State Championship try-outs and her vulnerability in a moment of self-reflection documents her feminine tranquillity, which is inseparable from her strength and courage. She steadies herself by taking a dip in the pool, with her mind still on the court, elsewhere." https://www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/prizes/young-archie/2020/ #iona #ionapresentationcollege #makingadifferencetogether #visualarts See more

17.01.2022 Grit is within! Not only can we cultivate grit from the inspirational persistence of others around us and through the resilience of nature. But our greatest examples of grit can come from turning our focus within. Reflect on times when youve persisted and fought gallantly. Let these lived examples be your source of gritty inspiration to help you get through any obstacle in your path this week. #iona #ionapresentationcollege #makingadifferencetogether #wellbeing #grit

15.01.2022 Leroy the Wellbeing Dog has been hard at work bringing joy to students and staff at Iona. A recent competition was held where students could submit a design for a coat or bandana for Leroy to wear at school. Kori from Year 7 designed a coat that would show that Leroy supports all of the Iona Houses equally. For the last two years, Leroy has attended school two days per week, and whilst he may be small in stature, he has a huge heart. #iona #ionapresentationcollege #makingadifferencetogether #wellbeing @leroyslicks

15.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 11 ATAR Visual Arts student, Gianna Lawrence, who has been selected as a finalist in the Young Archies Exhibition 16-18-year-old category for her portrait titled Linda which will be displayed at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. "Linda has dedicated her life to the education of primary school students, and it is her compassion, commitment and genuine care for their wellbeing and development which inspired me to create this portrait of ...her. Through her thoughtful expression, I aimed to capture her joyful and calm nature which she brings to her classroom every day, often through the various musical instruments she plays. The portrait seeks to evoke feelings of nostalgia and warmth from viewers who have also experienced the ongoing positive effects of a teacher who has made a difference in their lives." https://www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au//young-ar/2020/ #iona #ionapresentationcollege #makingadifferencetogether #visual art See more

11.01.2022 Merry Christmas from staff band, "The Nano's"

10.01.2022 We are delighted that three of our Year 12 ATART Visual Art students have been selected as part of the Pulse Perspectives 2021 which will run from March next year. Iona has continually been well represented at this prestigious exhibition; and we are delighted that this year is no exception. Taylor Wetherall’s ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’ comments on the banality of isolation within the elderly community; an issue particularly pertinent during the Covid-19 Global Pandemic. Jord...ee Simmons’ ‘Can’t Judge a Book by its Cover’ is a celebration of her personal and cultural context; the relationship between her nanna and Jordee and Jordee’s relationship with her Indigenous ancestry. Rachael Whitechurch’s ‘You Light the Way’ is about the absence of her mother who passed away when Rachael was 12 after a brave and hard-fought battle with cancer. #iona #ionapresentationcollege #makingadifferencetogether @artgallerywa See more
