25.01.2022 Iona Football families, Due to the extreme weather conditions and the damage caused to grounds on the Mid North Coast, the commencement of the Community football season has been delayed until the weekend of 8 May 2021. I have included part of the General Manager's message received this morning;... President Secretary All FMNC Clubs Following consultation with our local councils, it has become obvious that many of our grounds will not be playable for a number of weeks. We are taking the opportunity to move our Northern and Southern Community Competitions start date, back to the weekend of 8 May to enable essential ground maintenance and hopefully allow a limited preseason. To achieve this, Community Grand Final Day will be moved back one week, to the weekend of 18 September and Finals will be reduced to a top 4 in each division. There is no reduction in the length of the community season.
20.01.2022 Iona Football families - I hope you are managing OK during this extreme weather event. As someone who lives next to the river I know how quickly and how high it rose on Friday night. At the time of posting some of the more fortunate amongst us (me included) are starting to get some relief, but there is still a long long way to go. On behalf of the Iona FC committee our thoughts and best wishes go out to everyone who has been and/or continues to be adversely affected. The pl...anned Iona football gala day for this Saturday has been cancelled. Stay at home and take care of those you love. There will be plenty of time for football when the grounds dry out. Stay safe.

14.01.2022 The Port Macquarie Basketball regular season came to and end last night. Iona were represented in U12, U13, U14 & U16 age groups. A large number of our Iona players were in their first season of basketball and playing against older players It was the first year Iona have entered the PMQ competitions and we fielded over 50 players which is a fantastic start. We will look to build on this into the future.... Thanks to our coaches, Adam, Tim, Greg, Sue & Chris ably supported by parents and supporters. Semi-finals start next week - our best chance for a spot in the Grand-final would appear to be the U16 Div 2 boys who finished second. Good luck to the U12 Boys Maroon, U13 Girls, U16 Girls (an U14 team playing above their age group) and the U16 Boys. As coach Chris summed up the season, "We didn't win too many games, but had plenty of fun along the way."

12.01.2022 FMNC Futsal came to a conclusion last night and once again it was great to see Maroon jerseys everywhere and supporters cheering on our teams. The Iona U7 Wanderers completed a perfect season with 9 wins from 9 starts scoring more than 70 goals along the way which is an outstanding achievement. "They were very excited to take out the win in the grand final even with the very wet and wild conditions They have had a great time playing futsal this term."... Great work boys!!
10.01.2022 Round 5 of the FMNC Futsal competition was played yesterday afternoon at the Hockey centre. The U14 Maroons 4 match winning streak came to a end when they played the MCFC Roaring Rockets. Its great to see club footballers and representative footballers playing and competing against each other every week. The Roaring Rockets contains 4 former Iona Players and the match was played in great spirit.... "The speed of the game, the rep players movement off the ball and the quality of their first touch and finishing proved the difference. When we did get some shots on goal their GK was outstanding" To be the best you need to play the best so bring on the next game!

04.01.2022 Iona U13 Girls through to the PMQ Basketball Grand final!!!! The sports world news story of the year!!!! Should be on Fox sports and all the Australian media (OK that might be a slight exaggeration) Our U13 Girls team who qualified in 4th position with a 2/15 Win Loss ratio went up against the minor premiers "Mambas" who were 13/4 during the season and won!! ... These six girls playing under 13s when most of the girls are only under 11, took to the court at 7:35pm (when most would have been tucked up in bed asleep) and played game out of their skin. Well done Girls - parents and Coaches Adam & Tim!! Its nice to reminded sometimes of why we all love sport.
