19.01.2022 History of IoT Kevin Ashton, co-founder of the Auto-ID Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), first mentioned the internet of things in a presentation he made to Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 1999. Wanting to bring radio frequency ID (RFID) to the attention of P&G's senior management, Ashton called his presentation "Internet of Things" to incorporate the cool new trend of 1999: the internet. MIT professor Neil Gershenfeld's book, When Things Start to Think, al...so appeared in 1999. It didn't use the exact term but provided a clear vision of where IoT was headed. IoT has evolved from the convergence of wireless technologies, microelectromechanical systems (MEMSes), microservices and the internet. The convergence has helped tear down the silos between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT), enabling unstructured machine-generated data to be analyzed for insights to drive improvements. Although Ashton's was the first mention of the internet of things, the idea of connected devices has been around since the 1970s, under the monikers embedded internet and pervasive computing.
16.01.2022 IoT is a smaller, more agile telco start-up offering more unique services. How does it cut through a crowded market? IoT an acronym for ‘Internet of Things' A telecommunications company based on Australia's east coast focused primarily on business solutions. ... While they service the area well, they have grown to include the personal market, and their brand is relatively unknown to the public. We needed to create bright and memorable visuals to pierce the market's white noise and deliver streamlined purchase pathways to new customers. Clarity was of utmost importance. The colours, type and visuals had to accelerate comprehension of the brand. We designed graphics to help telegraph what ‘Internet of Things' encompasses, allowing the brand ID to emerge and connect on its own. Simplicity was key to this project. We needed to communicate brand attributes, but not at the expense of instant legibility. Our solution pivoted on a distinct sense of balance. The custom-built typeface and the placement of the circles were crafted with the notion that they belong to each other acknowledging the connectedness integral to the ‘internet of things' idea. 10.01.2022 Enterprise IoT applications There are numerous real-world applications of the internet of things, ranging from consumer IoT and enterprise IoT to manufacturing and industrial IoT (IIoT). IoT applications span numerous verticals, including automotive, telecom and energy. In healthcare, IoT offers many benefits, including the ability to monitor patients more closely using an analysis of the data that's generated. Hospitals often use IoT systems to complete tasks such as invent...ory management for both pharmaceuticals and medical instruments. Smart buildings can, for instance, reduce energy costs using sensors that detect how many occupants are in a room. The temperature can adjust automatically -- for example, turning the air conditioner on if sensors detect a conference room is full or turning the heat down if everyone in the office has gone home. In agriculture, IoT-based smart farming systems can help monitor, for instance, light, temperature, humidity and soil moisture of crop fields using connected sensors. IoT is also instrumental in automating irrigation systems. In a smart city, IoT sensors and deployments, such as smart streetlights and smart meters, can help alleviate traffic, conserve energy, monitor and address environmental concerns, and improve sanitation. 04.01.2022 Connecting the Dots with IoT. Ronald Wayne, Created the original Apple Logo in 1976 with Isaac Newton sitting under an apple tree. Steve Jobs approached Rob Janoff a creative genius wanting to redesign the Apple logo for the launch of the Apple 2, which was to be held at the West Coast Computer Fair on the 17th of April 1977. ... The Apple 2 transformed computing as we know it, the Apple logo becoming iconic! IoT has a unique name, Domain, www.iot.com.au and telephone number 1300000001 As history repeats, IoT, one of Australia’s most successful Telcos, sought Rob Janoff to redesign the IoT logo, in preparation of a new Telco Carrier agreement, deploying enterprise, government and global solutions for industry 4.0 known as The Internet of Things. Steve Jobs’ Commencement Speech at Stanford on Connecting the Dots (You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well-worn path, and that will make all the difference.
