16.01.2022 I felt the need to introduce myself to my new AS family! I have battled AS and related ailments for almost 25 yrs now (am 45!). My initial 10 years were spent in pain and frustration : "Trying to Accept", "why me??", "Fear of the future", "Fear of the unknown illness" I was always an active guy and believed in living with passion and chasing my dreams. Used to take my meds/pain-killers and get on with the day. Do my exercises. Eat my greens. But this disease time n again ...halted my growth. The doctors didn't help me much. Some attributed my pain to my stress (while I am a very positive guy) and some were just plain clueless! They did not have answers to my questions! And finally in 2011, I got paralysed neck-down due to stenosis in my neck . It was a shocker! Life threw me under the bus! I didn't know whom to blame! I was slowly going down the rabbit hole of depression. But I have 2 young kids, a loving wife, and my mom n sister. had to find a way to live for them. I digged deep within me & resolved never to let this disease take over my life. Went under the knife twice in my spine and regained some of my mobility after 4 months of hospitalization. And then I took my life to a whole new level. Trained n ran my first half marathon in 2012 i.e. within 12 months of my surgery! And have been running ever since then. I finally felt that my life was going to get better! But then life again have me shocker!! And I suffered a massive heart attack in 2016 again due to AS along with a prolonged uveitis attack (which left me blind in left eye). But, by this time, I had developed new strategies. Had spent time with experts in the field of medicine (doctors, therapists, books), pain relief expert (Egoscue institute), Mindset coaches (Tony Robbins, Dean Graziosy, Joseph McClendon-3 and more), Meditation gurus (Vishen Lakhiani, Deepak Chopra, Sadhguru). Now I am accomplished in following fields: * Functional medicine for AS/RA * Postural Alignment Specialist (PAS - Egoscue) * Certified e-hypnotherapist * Meditation expert * Multiple marathon finisher And I still have my AS!!
