02.01.2022 Dudley got de-sexed yesterday. Hes doing good. Hes rockin a onesie to keep him from licking his stitches lol better than a cone. We did have one issue when we picked him up which I thought Id bring up in case not everyone is aware. By law in qld when you get your dog de-sexed they put a small tattoo in the ear. Apparently so they can easily be identified as having been done. By who I have no idea. You can clearly see whether any male dog has been desexed and though females... might be harder surely a vet could tell. So Im not really sure why its so absolutely necessary to mark them. Thats probably another discussion altogether. I have seen them on some of my clients dogs but wasnt aware it was automatically done when the op was done. Until yesterday. Now this is the bit that annoys me. My partner wasnt told about this. When we picked him it was on his ear. Ok not a big issue some might say and on most dogs its unobtrusive and not a big deal. But in some breeds maybe its a little more of an issue. Dudley has decent sized ears and they put it not in an inconspicuous spot but right in the middle of his ear. I would have liked to have been told that it was being done before his op and given a choice. Ive since found out you can sign a waiver and not have it done. A choice might have been nice. So just in case anyone might have an issue with this on their dog be aware you do have a choice about it. Talk to your vet. See more
