20.01.2022 The Friday Junior Masters Finals did not disappoint. Congratulations to all the players. Our Division 1 singles finalists were Tom Abel, Euan Brown and Xavier McLellan. Tom took out the winners trophy with Euan as runner up. Division 2 singles finalist were Liam Phillips, Ben Weaver and Rashminda Ratnayak. Liam took out the winners position with Ben as runner up. This season we ran a doubles ladder as well and the over all winner for Division 1 was Joe Spurling with Tom Abe...l and Stefanie Lynagh as 2nd and 3rd. Division 2 over all winner was Lawrie Bischoff with Ben Weaver and Shane Burrow as 2nd and 3rd. We were extremely proud of everyones matches and it was some of the best tennis we have seen. 11.01.2022 Some Club History Might interest you. -We opened January 2011 as the Big floods happened. We persisted through. -We persisted through the heat waves... -We persisted through theft -We persisted through personal health issues -We persisted through the naysayers in our tow -We persisted even when we had Tennis Australia attempt to sabotage my contracts due to a personal vendetta. -We persist through daily challenges of keeping our very very old club looking neat and tidy with a modern faade. -We have persisted through the Fire crisis this year. -We persisted through the flood and its impact on the economy and our customers -We are persisting through this Coronavirus debacle. -We will persist through the economic backlash from the coronavirus. We will not fail if it takes every last bit of grit, know-how, blood, sweat and more sweat (because crying never fixed anything) to be the best damn Tennis Club in the region. We are extremely proud of the club we have created here and the key word in this is ----- RESILIENCE!!! Do not get us wrong - the next year or more will be TOUGH and we will struggle. But the struggle is what makes it all worth it in the end! We teach this to our students and will practice what we preach! If you do not enjoy the struggle then you will be miserable at the end of the fight! Enjoying the fight in a tennis match... enjoying the fight of business...enjoying the personal struggle people will go through is the important part. We will all come out a little bit more battered and bruised at the end of this.... But we WILL COME OUT OF IT and have learnt more from the experience. 11.01.2022 Check these guys out! Pictured - Littles vs Bigs challenge!! 4 15 Fixtures squad v 5 15 high performance squad Last day of regularly scheduled coaching squads for the year!... We are not the biggest club around but we have it where it counts. The players and their attitudes and work rate! We have a CRAZY good bunch of teenage Players (Bigs) who have consistently been an inspiration for the younger guys (Littles) at the club. They NEVER shy away from playing mini matches with the little guys. The enthusiasm and their approach to introducing the young players into the atmosphere and club vibe is inspiring. I will admit I end most weeks with exhausted legs and arms from getting bashed around the court by all the players we work with. I am always looking forward to the next week and seeing how they will nudge me around with growing ease. Big thanks to Joe Spurling Tom abel Euan Brown Levi Gould Will Johnstone Hayley Meier Your help does not go unnoticed and makes the atmosphere for the other players at the club exactly where we want it to be.
