15.01.2022 The Ipswich Ratepayers and Residents Association Inc (IRRA) are aware of the resignation of Mayor Paul Pisasale and his admission to hospital for ill-health. We... thank him for the positive contributions that he made to Ipswich and wish him a speedy recovery. It has been IRRA’s stated mission from inception to hold Ipswich City Council to account. For too long, the community have suffered from the effects of Council approved waste dumps which has created putrid odour problems in some suburbs. The environment has also suffered from Council approved, poor quality developments which have led to broad scale, habitat destroying landclearing activity and other problems. IRRA believes that the Ipswich community should always come first when any ICC or developer decision is made, which is why we have been lobbying for change in Ipswich. IRRA supports the ongoing CCC investigations into donations made to ICC Councillors especially by developers and the conduct of certain candidates in the 2016 local government elections. We also call on the State government to suspend the decision making of development applications by ICC and for an independent body to take over this responsibility. Ipswich Ratepayers and Residents Association Inc will continue to monitor the activities of our elected officials to ensure their good service to the community. We hope that given time and action by the relevant authorities, the reputation of Ipswich can be restored and our city can progress in a positive, healthy and environmentally friendly way.

Queenslanders deserve accountability and transparency in government and we will keep going until we have an anti-corruption... watchdog in this state with real teeth! Thanks so much for your courage Jim Dodrill and rest assured we will do this together for all Queenslanders. See more
