25.01.2022 Our first face to face service...

25.01.2022 Worship about to begin. First Sunday in Advent. Streaming now: https://youtu.be/-1pii-xXp6Q

25.01.2022 https://youtu.be/2nrlTwvZWa0 Worship is just beginning. Bruce Raymond is leading us.

24.01.2022 https://youtu.be/xenl5Bwn26g On Sunday we celebrated All Saints day including this tribute which celebrates some of the folk who went before us in the faith. All photos were contributed by current members of the congregation and feature members loved ones who they wished to honour. The whole service can be seen here: https://youtu.be/60m3-bPwp-w

24.01.2022 Join for worship live face to face or online 9 am 29 Nov and you can even watch later. https://youtu.be/-1pii-xXp6Q The pizza is coming... Advent is that time of the year when we look forward to Jesus coming. We look forward to celebrating God becoming one of us in a stable in Bethlehem Jesus' first coming. More importantly we also look forward to Jesus' second coming to the time when he will return and make everything new. A time when justice and peace, and love will be ...truly complete. The trouble is that we live "in between" those two times. We live believing that death and sin have been defeated in the life and cross of Jesus, but we also live in a time where sin still seems to prosper and we grieve at the death of loved ones. One of our readings for today (1 Cor 1:3-9) is about how God provides for us in this "in between time" . While we might be waiting for "the day of the Lord Jesus" in the meantime we are "enriched" in every way and we "are not lacking in any Spiritual gift". I often think about this as like waiting for the pizza that's been ordered and paid for to come. We hunger and long for it to arrive but while we wait we are "enriched" in every way and we "are not lacking in any Spiritual gift", because God has already delivered us all the "Coke" and "garlic bread" we could ever need. Question for thought and discussion What could or should we be doing while we wait for Jesus to arrive and the Kingdom to come in all its fullness?

23.01.2022 Worship is at 9am this morning 27 December. No live stream this morning but if you are looking for a live streamed service you could go to the UC QLD service for this month https://youtu.be/peSTCB3B1Bw In his last service with us Rev Andrew reflects on how God becoming a child for us means you are all children of God. You had a profound impact on your parents and your own children. If as human children you can do so much what could you do as the children of God?

23.01.2022 10 Minute Message : A little can be used to do a lot Feeding of the 5000 Proper 13 A 2020

22.01.2022 Tomorrow is All Saints Day. (Worship link https://youtu.be/60m3-bPwp-w Or join us face to face, 9am) For those non Catholics who observe it it’s about all who have gone before us in the faith, not just the great figures of the faith. The imagery tomorrow will be bittersweet. It will remind people of all they have lost, all they have gained, and the present and future hope of God truly being among us in Jesus. 1 John 3:2 (NRSV): 2 Beloved, we are God’s children now; what ...we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. Whether they celebrate All Saints or not why not join with all the Saints (people of God living and dead) to celebrate and remember all those who have shared our journey. Online and in person church is happening everywhere. (Including 9 AM at Ipswich City UC) https://youtu.be/60m3-bPwp-w

22.01.2022 Join us for our first live stream tomorrow 2 August 8:50 onwards for our 9am service. https://youtu.be/S6Q89i2G3fQ

22.01.2022 It’s World Communion Sunday. Join us now live or later in the day as we share in this sign of God’s Love. https://youtu.be/BTr2JnJV63A

21.01.2022 Last Sunday's Service - Transformed by the treasure!! https://youtu.be/89uUwDPw2W8 God’s Kingdom is wherever God is King...It’s wherever God is in charge. It’s where he fills your heart up with his Forever Happiness and you stop running away from him and you love him. (Jesus Storybook Bible p 250) The story varies a little, but in central Queensland about 300 km west of Mackay there were some properties being established. Perhaps it was a shepherd, or perhaps one of the buil...ders working on the farm buildings, but someone found some gold. All the stock workers and all the builders left the properties and joined a gold rush, and people came from the south and the coast. UuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuThe gold was not plentiful but it was there and much of it still is. Soon a town grew, banks and churches, pubs and schools and stores were established. The farms and properties did get established and eventually coal was found nearby. Today around 4000 live in the town and district of Clermont. It is a small but thriving rural and mining town. A great little community, full of life. At first the finding of Gold by one worker seemed a small, exciting but potentially selfish thing, but in the end the excitement brought others and created a whole new community. The Kingdom of God is like this, a treasure is found, a mustard seed is planted, a baby born in a feed trough, excitement builds and the whole world is changed into God’s community of love. How has your world changed since discovering the treasure?

21.01.2022 We enter Jerusalem this Sunday with cries of victory, but let us contemplate the week that lies ahead as we meet Sunday 28th March at 9am. https://youtu.be/V4solfntFMk

20.01.2022 Forgiven to forgive Our link for Sunday’s livestream: https://youtu.be/se6K6O8p37c and below a reflection on the passage I’ll be peaching on. Matthew18:21-25 THE UNFORGIVING SERVANT I believe that to understand today's reading is to understand that the unforgiving servant was forgiven more than 150, 000 years wages for a labourer, by his master. It was an amount that he could never repay. This is a picture of the grace and mercy of God.... As Christians we believe the way God forgives that debt was by becoming one of us in Jesus the second person of the Trinity God in Jesus lived your life, died your death, shares the Spirit and his living relationship with the Father with you. You can never repay God's love shown to you in Jesus and you do not need to!. In God forgiving you, a debt has been paid that you can never repay. Yet like the forgiven servant, you somehow either don't believe or can not see how much God loves you. So when someone comes across your path who needs to be forgiven by you, of a debt or hurt, you demand payment. This may be so you can pass some of that back to God to begin to repay the already paid debt that you can never repay. It may also be because you do not trust your master, and want to look after yourselves. If you understand how much God has forgiven you and how much it has cost God, how wide and deep God's love is, then surely you will want to forgive others! Perhaps your recent history as a church is fertile ground to reflect upon forgiveness. Perhaps their are family members or fellow workers or volunteers who God may be asking you to be merciful toward. Do not be like the first servant in this story. Recognise God's amazing free gift! Questions for thought or discussion To what extent do you trust God to forgive you? In what ways do you find yourself trying to repay God or prove your own value? How easy do you find it to forgive others? How does this parable about how much God has forgiven us motivate you to forgive others?

19.01.2022 https://youtu.be/e6wIS8gcLes Join us Sunday. 9am. Celebrate Father’s Day and reflect on how Heaven meets Earth in the life of a Christian.

18.01.2022 This Sunday is Father's Day and I (Rev Andrew) have recently discovered the Speakola website and also podcast. It is a collection of famous speeches and also of Eulogies of 'regular' people. It invites submissions so I submitted this Eulogy for my dad and Tony Wilson who runs the site had graciously published it. I thought this might be a fitting tribute to my Dad and all dads as we celebrate Father's Day https://speakola.com//for-pete-gillies-by-andrew-gillies-2

16.01.2022 https://youtu.be/8oqD8cqCYnA Here's the Link to Tomorrow's Live stream. Join us any time from 8:50am (Or watch it later.) Step out of the Boat On a large lake in the middle of a storm, a man, Jesus, walks across the waves to a group of friends in a boat. One of the men in the boat, Peter, steps out onto the waves when Jesus calls him. He walks toward Jesus. ... Why would he do such a crazy thing? The answer is that he knew and trusted Jesus. He had seen so much that it gave him confidence and trust. He had seen Jesus heal the sick, and feed the hungry. He had heard Jesus speak about loving, our neighbours and enemies. He had seen Jesus make friends with bad people. Tax collectors, prostitutes, people with a ‘reputation’, and even those with frightening diseases and disabilities. Peter had heard Jesus speak and seen him act with compassion, and power. Jesus spoke of God’s care for every creature great and small, forgiveness, and rest and comfort for the weary. He spoke of and lived a life where God’s love was in charge of people’s hearts. He taught of a time when heaven and earth would become united and said that this time was coming now. It might seem like a dark day but the light of God’s love is creeping over the horizon and soon the sun will rise and everything will be bathed in God’s love. Like Peter, Jesus is calling you today to step onto the water. Step onto the waves in the middle of the storm. Perhaps that’s too much for you. Perhaps you don’t know Jesus as Peter did. Get to know him like Peter did. The courage will come. Today as we baptise Liam he takes the first step to knowing Jesus as Peter did and we pray that one day he will step out of the boat onto the waves to meet Him.

16.01.2022 It's unfair. I've worked hard all my life but they get more money, or fame, or love, or a better position than me. A reflection on the "Workers in the vineyard." story form Matthew 20:1-16. In the end God chooses to love and bless all people. Some are blessed differently to others, but all who will accept God's love given in Jesus have new life now and beyond death. We should not be envious. That should be more than enough for anyone.

15.01.2022 We had to change the worship link at the last minute. Updated link: https://youtu.be/nCU2XpcYaIs (11 October 2020) We had some terrible sound issues so the first 12 and a half minutes have been trimmed. The service now begins in the Children's time.

06.01.2022 Don't be a silly old goat! Join us in person or online 9am Sunday for worship: https://youtu.be/bYIdLGdNR0g (Watch it later if you miss it) Rev Jeanette Taubner our guest preacher will reflect on The Sheep and the Goats or the The Judgment of the Nations. These are are common titles used to refer to Sunday's reading Matthew 25:31-46. This parable is part of Matthew’s Gospel, known as the ‘Olivet Discourse’ and with the two parables prior to this one, precede the passion a...nd resurrection of Jesus. These three parables have a common aim to impress on the disciples the necessity to be watchful and encourage good activity. So we won’t be having an animal husbandry lesson! But maybe we’ll have a reflection on compassion. See more

01.01.2022 Imagine a world where we really loved our neighbours as ourselves without bullying, where couples were always faithful to each other, where life was always valued and without murderous hatred. Where the opening words of te Lord’s Prayer were a reality? Heaven and Earth would meet because God’s will would be done on Earth as in Heaven. Throughout the Bible God’s will is that we should love God and every neighbour we are given, near and far. It is the 10 commandments, it is the Good Samaritan and above all is given, seen and expressed in the life of Jesus. Christine Howden Hezza Moo Gillies Ruth Ladley https://youtu.be/BTr2JnJV63A
