25.01.2022 This week we celebrated Mental Health Week. We are so grateful to our Year 10 students for highlighting the importance of mental health and sharing such positive lessons with their peers.

24.01.2022 We are pleased to welcome one of Australia’s most accomplished parenting authors and journalists, Madonna King, to our campus next week on Wednesday 21 April 2021. The bestselling author of Being 14 and Fathers and Daughters shares with us what your daughter needs you to know about her shift from child to teenager how she feels, what she thinks, what worries her and what you can do to help. Award-winning journalist, commentator and author Madonna King sought the counsel of ...500, 10-year-old girls, 1600 mothers, and 100 Year 5 school teachers for her new book, TEN-AGER. Dozens of school principals, teen psychologists, doctors, researchers and female role models were also interviewed to provide a guide for parents helping tween daughters into adolescence. Turning 10 used to be a double-digit celebration; now it is the beginning of the teen years. TEN-AGER takes our girls’ dreams and worries, wants and fears and puts them to the experts, in the hope it helps parents guide their daughter into adolescence. This is the perfect guide to help parents understand how their daughter is feeling, what they need to know, what to say, and when to stay silent and listen. DATE: Wednesday, 21 April 2021 TIME: 6pm-7.30pm VENUE: Katherine C. Carter Theatre, Ipswich Girls' and Junior Grammar School We hope to see you at this event. Please book your free tickets online via this link: https://www.trybooking.com/BPZVK

Under the watchful eye of our Honorary School Archivist, Mrs Pullar, girls from Years 7 to 12 have spent the past term researching elements of our School’s rich history. Thank you to Mrs Pullar for her endless dedication to the School Archives and support of our students.

23.01.2022 Our boarders who have gone on a rural Queensland adventure this holidays, have enjoyed kayaking in the Bainbilla Lagoon as well as a quick stop outside Surat to see the wheat fields. This adventure has been a wonderful experience for our girls and has provided some holiday fun and excitement for those who have not been able to go home to their families this year. We are fortunate to have a close sisterhood of girls in Cribb House, supported by caring boarding staff who thou...ghtfully planned this trip. We look forward to following the girls’ adventures throughout this experience. #IGGS #IGGSBoarding

23.01.2022 We’ve got mail! Our Years 8 to 11 students studying Japanese were delighted this week to receive letters from our sister school, Shinagawa Ladies College. We were due to visit Shinagawa this year to celebrate the anniversary of our schools' 35 year friendship. To ease the disappointment of not being able to go on the planned 2020 Japan Tour, Shinagawa sent some letters in the post to our students. These letters were written in both English and Japanese so that IGGS students... were able to practice their reading and translation skills. We are now busy writing our replies to send back to our new Japanese friends. As most people don’t send letters anymore, the students are thoroughly enjoying the special keepsakes they now have. We hope that they love receiving our letters as much as we loved receiving theirs.
