A big thank you to both Ms Gardiner and Ms Mulholland for attending and for your ongoing support.

23.01.2022 Curious about where the first house in Ipswich was located? The "City of Ipswich" publication from 1935 claims the first house was a cottage which "stood in a bight formed by the junction of a deep gully, on the western aspect, with the Bremer, which flowed by it on the north, about a hundred yards away." The publication also claims the cottage was very near Claremont.

23.01.2022 The Ipswich City Council's Heritage Information Kit has plenty of useful information for dating and restoring your heritage house. The Club has several copies available, thanks to one of our members who works in Council's Planning and Development department.

08.01.2022 Once all the necessary work has been complete, restump done, roof no longer leaking, house no longer falling down around your ears and you can think about other things, the right landscaping can enhance a property and help turn a house into a home. A great front fence can make a huge difference to street appeal. Manicured hedges and lawns provide a classic frame to an old Queenslander that never goes out of style. Or try on a cottage style or even a native garden, for a soft...er, less formal look. On a sloping block, so common around our hilly Ipswich, terracing can create a huge difference both visually and practically. Paved pathways guide guests around the garden and paved sitting areas are both functional and add charm. If you're lucky enough to inherit a beautiful, established garden, I envy you. Bare dirt, dead grass and mountains of weeds are faced by the rest of us. All pictures attached and the work contained within are courtesy of PM Landscapes. If you're looking for some help in creating an outdoor space to rival the indoor but have no place to start, Paul and his team provide both design and labour for jobs big and small. With the weather cooling down, it's just the perfect time to start working on that garden!

05.01.2022 Sharing today some of the good work of The Ipswich Photographer. The Ipswich Heritage Club, while focused on the past of our city, also believes that recording our built heritage as it is today is very important. In 20, 40, 60 or more years, we certainly hope many if not all of these buildings are still standing. The good work of today's photographers, professional or amateur, will ensure future generations are able to look back and see how these buildings have evolved and adapted to changing needs throughout the decades.
