25.01.2022 Message from Brenda: Had the world not been struck down with corona virus, this month at the Old Courthouse, Ipswich Musical Theatre Company, with a cast of fourteen superb singers and a small ensemble of musicians, would have been staging Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. Sondheim is widely hailed as the greatest modern American musical theatre composer. The beautiful and lush score of A Little Night Music, features Sondheim’s most popular and well versed song, ...Send in the Clowns. Set in Sweden at the turn of the 20th century, A Little Night Music is a story of love, lust, nostalgia, intrigue, betrayal and humour, set amongst the magic of a summer’s night on a weekend in the country where everyone arrives, each with their own amorous purposes and desires. When the pandemic struck, we refunded money to those who had booked for the May season, closed the booking site down and tentatively rescheduled to 23 October to 1st November, however, we cannot say with any certainty when we will be able to stage our next production. We look forward to post-pandemic when it will be safe to open theatres. Right now, please enjoy Jessica Ham, who plays the role of Petra, singing The Miller’s Son.
21.01.2022 Playing Mom | Auditions | Creative Development Workshop | Jess Ham Productions ****UNPAID****... ABOUT PLAYING MOM In 1930s New York, Diana Hamilton thought she had escaped the dredge of a small-town marriage after twenty years of Broadway acclaim. When a woman’s choice is enough to condemn her, how does one answer the age old question: career or family? 12.01.2022 IPSWICH MUSICAL THEATRE COMPANY Ipswich Musical Theatre Company (IMTC) was co-founded by Brenda Ryan and Ken Mundt in 2001, in response to a request to Brenda Ryan from a group of parents, supporting their children in their desire to stage ‘Seven Little Australians, the Musical’ based on the classic Australian novel by Ethel Turner, to celebrate the CENTENARY OF FEDERATION. Since 2001, IMTC has staged boutique productions and dinner theatre shows in the historic Old... Courthouse and a major production in the Ipswich Civic Centre each September except 2020, when theatres were closed due to covid. Earlier major productions in the Civic Centre were: Annie (twice), The Wizard of Oz, Oliver (twice), The Sound of Music (twice) The King and I, South Pacific, Beauty and the Beast, The Producers, The Boy from Oz. In 2014, IMTC was granted the performance rights to stage the greatest musical of the 20th century, The Phantom of the Opera. This production with all the majesty, grandeur and romance, enjoyed a sold out season with many patrons travelling great distances to attend. In January 2015 Australia Day Awards, this production of The Phantom of the Opera received the EVENT award Citywide Category. Recent major IMTC shows in Ipswich Civic Centre have been: Mary Poppins 2015, Wicked 2016, Les Miserables 2017, Strictly Ballroom 2018 and MAMMA MIA 2019 using an LED screen for the first time in Qld. From small and humble beginnings, IMTC is now recognised Australia wide as a major community theatre company capable of staging the biggest and most technically challenging newly released for community theatre productions.

07.01.2022 Sophie Salvesani Sophie Salvesani grew up at Karana Downs and came to Ipswich Musical Theatre Company in 2014 and was cast as Christine in their production of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ at Ipswich Civic Centre. Sophie has thrilled audiences with her beautiful coloratura soprano voice in numerous Ipswich Musical Theatre performances at the Ipswich Civic Centre and at the Old Courthouse. Sophie’s last show with IMTC at Ipswich Civic Centre was Les Miserables 2017, in the ...role of Cosette. Sophie graduated from Pacific Opera’s 2018 Young Artist Program and made her Sydney Opera House debut with Pacific Opera. In 2019 Sophie was cast by Opera Australia as Maria, in their internationally touring production of West Side Story, which opened in Melbourne and then toured to Wellington in New Zealand; Berlin, Dresden and Cologne in Germany; before returning to Australia at the Sydney Opera House, then on to Adelaide and Canberra.
