Improvement in bilateral motor skills, sensory skills, relating to others and social skills as well as being calming. We cant thank Springfree Trampoline enough, not only are they ...great supporters of us, they align with our values in improving the lives of children who need it the most. 24.01.2022 Meet Jarryd - hes 21, autistic and, like so many, was keen to get into the workforce - but anxious about taking that first step. "It was a huge challenge to start with - the aspects of autism with the interviews and the process of trying to find jobs was just a bit overwhelming." Thankfully, APM helped him gain confidence, finding the right employer and coaching him through the interview process.... Read Jarryds story here: https://apm.net.au/jarryd Were proud to have APM Employment Services supporting our upcoming virtual conference, Four Journeys, One Moment. Because as Dr. Temple Grandin says, "the world needs all the different kinds of minds", and APM are helping to make that a reality. Four Journeys, One Moment will run all-day Saturday 15 August. Jump on from your laptop, phone or tablet to watch presentations from Dr. Temple Grandin, Ron Suskind, Chloe Maxwell and Chris Bonnello (Autistic Not Weird). 24.01.2022 Last week we lost one of our dear Irabina family members. Elaine Pandilovski was a beautiful member of our community a caring mum to her autistic son, Thomas, and a much-loved teachers aide at Plenty Parklands Primary School. Her positivity, kindness and support will be deeply missed. A Go Fund Me page has been set up by Elaines family to help pay for Elaines funeral and ongoing support for Thomas. If you would like to make a contribution, visit: https://au.gofundme.com/f/please-help-for-elaine All of the staff here at Irabina are deeply saddened by this loss. If anyone is in need of counselling or additional care during this time please reach out.

20.01.2022 "When Owen was about 7 years old we realised we could communicate through Disney movies. He had memorised all of the movies - including Snow White, from 1937 - so, we learned to speak Disney." 18.01.2022 With COVID-19 forcing so many of us to stay at home, we spoke to two of our clinicians, Joanna Elms and Caitlin Kennedy for ways you can get more out of screen-time with the kids or go screen-free. https://www.irabina.com/news/screen-time-or-screen-free/

17.01.2022 Join Deb and Ron Suskind at 12pm (AEST) tomorrow as they chat about autism, COVID-19 and learning to talk through the power of Disney movies. Yes, you read that correctly. Somewhere between the years of two and three, Rons son Owen vanished. The little boy who was able to talk about anything, suddenly couldnt say a word . Over the following years, Ron and his family went through the life-changing process of learning Owen had autism, and discovering that in a world of one...-size-fits-all, they didnt fit any more. Amazingly, at 7 years of age, they had a breakthrough Owen didnt just love his Disney movies. He was memorising them. Internalising them. Until one day, he was communicating through them. And magically, he found a way to teach his parents and brother to communicate that way too. Ron shares a small piece of this beautiful story in his chat with Deb. For more, be sure to register for our upcoming virtual event, Four Journeys, One Moment, during which Ron, alongside Dr. Temple Grandin, Chloe Maxwell and Chris Bonnello (Autistic Not Weird) will share their journey with autism. Book your tickets here: https://zoom.us//r/9215954880120/WN_2JknqgFfR6SIbhG6Tmj-YA All proceeds will go towards assisting Irabina to continue supporting children and families affected by autism.
