This huge study by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement investigates fourth-grade students’ reading achievement. The research indicated that Australian children’s reading skills were lower than those of children in the other English-speaking countries studied, and that a quarter of Australian Year 4 students did not meet the expected standard.
