20.01.2022 Holden employees and Dealerships across Australia are deeply saddened by the current bushfire disaster. Our hearts go out to every Australian impacted by this c...risis. To show our support, we are pledging $1,000,000 to bushfire relief and recovery. To help with the immediate need for aid, the first $200,000 will be donated to the Australian Red Cross for their Disaster Relief and Recovery efforts. The remaining amount will be directed to where it will make the most meaningful impact, and we are working with our Dealerships and partners in affected areas to coordinate these funds. We will post more details in the coming weeks and months as the rebuilding effort begins in each local area. In the meantime, we’d like to recognise the tireless work of our firefighters, emergency services, volunteers and communities in supporting those impacted by the fires. We encourage you to donate and show your support by visiting www.redcross.org.au.

18.01.2022 THE LAST IRELAND HOLDEN The last new Holden sold by Ireland Holden was delivered today to Mrs Judith Spagnolo, of Innisfail. It was a special moment in time fo...r the Ireland Family, with brothers Richard and David on hand for the delivery and some photos. The photo captured the delivery in an identical frame to a photo of the first Holden delivered in Cairns to Mr Barty Gerrand in 1949, by the brother’s grandfather, Francis Ireland MBE. In a sign of these times, Richard Ireland said ‘To capture the identical situation to my Grandfather, a handshake was required, but we made sure made everyone got the hand gel straight away!’ The car delivered in 1949 was a Holden 48-215, more commonly referred to as an FX. The photo of Mrs Spagnolo who will receive copies of the 1949 photo and todays photo and her Equinox LTZ-V 2.0l Turbo Auto AWD will have a special place on the wall at Ireland’s, alongside Mr Gerrand and his 48-215. Mrs Spagnolo said she was excited to take delivery of the vehicle from Ireland’s sales executive, Chris Zappala. She said she was a bit nervous to drive the new car home but thoroughly looking forward to the run. This is the second new vehicle in the family from Ireland’s in just two weeks after Mrs Spagnolo’s husband picked up his new RAM Truck last week. On Delivery of the RAM, Mrs Spagnolla said It must be my turn now and happily settled on the new Holden Equinox. At that time, she didn’t realise she was purchasing a piece of ‘motoring history’. Ireland’s are inviting Holden enthusiasts to take a photo of their Holden ‘pride and joy’ in front of the Holden signs before they are removed in the next few weeks. Richard Ireland said there had been interest from Holden Car clubs and said the Best time to get uninterrupted shots would be on Saturday afternoon or Sunday.

11.01.2022 Watch A C8 Corvette Caravan Cruise Down The Highway The C8 Corvette is no longer a secret. Well, sort of. General Motors finally acknowledged the new sports car last week when it drove a camouflaged prototype through the streets of New York City, announcing that it would reveal the new mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette July 18th. The mid-engine Corvette C8 is an exciting car a real-world realization of Zora Arkus-Duntov’s dream Corvette more than 60 years after the iconic spo...rts car debuted. While the mid-engine Corvettes in various stages of development have been spotted, very little about the car is known. Yes, there have been rumors and plenty of them but GM is tight-lipped as ever. There’ve been plenty of leaks, too, like a leaked order guide late last month that suggests the C8 Corvette will feature the 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine making more than 460 horsepower. Like the LT1, it should have direct injection, variable-valve timing, and Active Fuel Management. Rumors persist the base version of the car will only see a slight price increase over the base front-engine Corvette C7. However, GM allegedly has plans for more than just a V8 version. Rumors are circulating that Chevy will eventually offer hybrid and electric versions of the new supercar. The order guide also showed things like an option Z51 Performance suspension and Z51 Magnetic Selective Ride Control. In addition, the C8 Corvette will likely also be available with an electronic limited slip differential, a Z51 brake package, the Performance Data Recorder, and much more. Right now, the rumor mill is running rampant, in no small part thanks to high interest levels and, well, the internet. At the very least, we know when GM will reveal the new Corvette, but that doesn’t mean development is complete, as evident by the video above showing three C8 Corvettes caravanning down a Kentucky highway, which is where the Corvette is built at the GM Bowling Green plant. That said, perhaps these are initial pre-production models undergoing quality control testing. Nevertheless, with all the hype surrounding the car, GM has a massive task of delivering a product that pleases all kinds of constituents, most importantly those in the market for a dedicated sport scar. We have our fingers crossed that they do just that.

04.01.2022 Richard Ireland and Jon Maurice from Ireland Holden had the honour of presenting this 'Holden Home Ground Advantage' Grant, a part of Holden's multi year commit...ment to local sporting teams throughout the country. The well deserved local recipient this year is the Cairns Penrhyn Sharks Rugby Union Club and Sporting Association who received $20,000 to assist the club. CPSA doesn’t just offer one sporting code, it offers five! With Rugby 7’s, Touch Rugby, Rugby Union, Volleyball and Netball on offer, the CPSA encourages all abilities and focuses on promoting sport as a deterrent to troublesome behaviour. CPSA is dedicated to promoting discipline, teamwork and leadership amongst all its grassroots participants. The grant for new equipment and uniforms will help grow CPSA numbers allowing continued promotion of these values. The club has grown from having just one Seniors team at the beginning of the year to now fielding a team in every age group, with more than 150 players. The team at Holden, and Ireland Holden, are passionate about sport and how it brings communities together, so funding projects to improve club facilities, purchase equipment and uniforms is a great way to be involved. Hundreds of clubs across Australia applied for a grant in this round and this local club was one of seven successful applicants. Well done to everyone involved! #holden #holdenaustralia #cairnspenrhynsportsassociation #irelandholden #penrhynsharkscairns #holdenhomegroundadvantage #homegroundadvantage #irelandsofcairns In the video: Cr Cathy Zeiger, Sei Simiona, Richard Ireland and a lot of very happy Penrhyn members. Full credit also to Kim Curulala who was instrumental in the Grant application but was unable to attend on the day.
