24.01.2022 Just an update on our breeding birds and the upcoming breeding season: Were working on getting all our birds to start nesting by switching up their diet and a few other things. So far, its working! There are a fair few who are spending more and more time in their nest boxes and many who have become extremely protective of their boxes... We expect that in a few weeks well have eggs... or even babies! When the first egg comes, well let you know!

21.01.2022 Weve been asked for some pictures of the fresh foods and veggies we give our birds and we finally got some time to grab some quick pics! Heres todays food, with some birds enjoying it. Its got sprouted seeds, banana, corn, peas, apple, pear, passion fruit and more! We find our birds LOVE pomegranate, too, but they ate the pomegranates yesterday, so they got none today . #freshfruitsandveggies #spoiltbirds #iridescentfeathers

14.01.2022 PLEASE READ: Hi all! As our birds are in high demand this season, we thought wed just let you know how to go about bringing home a baby bird from us this season.... Firstly, we dont take deposits for birds until they are removed from the nest for handraising at 2-3 weeks old. Although whoever first places a deposit on a bird has claim over it, we do have a waiting/priority list. When babies are removed from the nest, whoever is on this list will be notified of any available baby birds first. After this, we will then let the general public know through Instagram, Facebook and our website. If you are interested in joining our priority list and being notified of any available babies first, please send us a message/email or fill out the inquiry form on our website. If you could supply your email, name and which species youre interested in, that would be awesome. For more information, please read through: https://iridescentfeathers.wixsite.com/birds/birds-for-sale Thank you everybody for your patience!
14.01.2022 Some spam of our caique, Jack. A note to his old mummy Amy: hes doing great and is super settled! Were all in love!
14.01.2022 Weve had a few questions about wing clipping recently and weve updated a page on our website to help you out. Click on the link below to be taken to our website. It addresses these questions: - Should you wing clip? - What do we in regards to wing clipping?... - What are the types of wing clips? - How do you wing clip? https://iridescentfeathers.wixsite.com//flight-a-natural-p
11.01.2022 We have a few more photos of one of the babies we sold this season... This is little Apples, whos made herself at home and looks like shes already obsessed with her family! Were so delighted to see her and her new human family happy... Apples looks like shes having the time of her life with her human pets!
11.01.2022 UNDERSTANDING LEG RINGS: The first three letters stands for where the leg ring was purchased from- in this case, it was the Parrot Society of Australia (PSA). The three numbers after PSA stand for the individual birds number- this is the part used to identify the bird. The last letter stands for the size of the leg ring- for example, "N" is the size of leg ring required to fit a Green Cheeked Conure. If youre trying to figure out which bird was shown in a video or photo, h...ead to the bottom of the post and next to a camera emoji will be their leg ring number. : PSA089N
09.01.2022 This is arguably our prettiest pair yet! Meet our two newest breeders, Cassie and Ricky. Theyre both handraised and have quickly bonded to each other. They are exceptionally beautiful and we are desperately hoping for some stunning babies this season! Whos keen?
09.01.2022 Heres some pictures of the dry diet most of our birds are on- some parts of it vary depending on the bird but heres a list of whats in it: - Vetafarm Nutriblend Mini - Vetafarm South American Mix or Vetafarm Paradise Pellets (for our Eclectus) - Seed mix (as a treat)... - Vetafarm Egg and Biscuit Mix - Assorted nuts (usually almonds for the bigger birds and peanuts for the smaller birds) Sometimes we add a bit of fine grit for our breeding pairs, too. Vetafarm South American Mix is the Conure and Quaker base pellet diet for us, and then we add in lots of other things to spice it up for them. Our baby birds are all weaned onto these foods. KEEP AN EYE OUT: Well be posting some pictures of the veggie and fruit chop we make soon ! #pelletmix #drydiet #iridescentfeathers
09.01.2022 We woke up to four very protective parents this morning- we have two eggs! 07.01.2022 UPDATE: Buster has now gone to his new home Weve made a very very sad decision- that its time for our lovely Eclectus boy, Buster, to go to a new home. Our family has had Buster since he was a baby, and have built up a great deal of affection for this little man. He invests himself with all family members and is well loved. Buster is not so tolerant of our other feathered companions so we are a bit worried about the size of his beak compared to our conures and quakers et...c and really dont have the time to spend with him. We are after a bird wise family to take him on (I would suggest he is best suited to a single bird family). He is on is only to go to a good home that will love him dearly. He is not nippy and does not bite at all. He does not have a single mean bone in his body. He has a very broad vocabulary and learns new words with ease- he says hello, Buster, Buster boy, pretty boy, peekaboo, wheres Buster, hiiiii, come on, good boy, goodbye, he calls our dog ("Zoe!") and much more. He craves attention and company. True to type he does not like being patted, but prefers to sit on your shoulder quietly and enjoy your company. He eats fruits and vegetables daily, along with quality Vetafarm pellets. Previous Facebook posts have pictures of our diet. In our house he spends a lot of his time of his stand, which you are welcome to have to make the transition to your house easier. He spends his time in a massive outdoor aviary, on his stand and in an inside cage. Buster is 2 years and 3months. This very difficult, and we would enjoy taking time with you to fully inform you of Busters routine and favorite foods etc. You will need a license, and price is negotiable to the right buyer. We are happy to wait for the right family- please contact us for any more details.
06.01.2022 We said goodbye to our lovely blue and gold macaw Sheldon today as his new family took him home! Hes been an absolute delight to handraise and spend the last few months with and we know hell make the perfect addition to the family. His brother will be going to his new home tomorrow. Melissa Britton and family- we hope he settles in quickly and is the angel we know he is!
06.01.2022 Look at lovely Mango in his lovely new home! We miss him already and are so happy to see him looking so loved and taken good care of. His new family has done so well settling him in! What a spoilt little man ...

And much much more ! There may be amazons, caiques, hahns macaws and more on their way to Iridescent Feathers this year and were super excited to let you know when we have eggs and babies (yes, well post at the first signs of eggs so youre prepared for babies)! Well start taking deposits for babies when we remove them from the nest for handraising at 2-3 weeks of age. If youre keen on a baby that has been pulled for handraising, dont hesitate to get in quick as our baby birds tend to sell extremely quickly! Were preparing our breeding pairs to start breeding in the next few months and well keep you posted on any updates. Attached are pictures of some of past baby birds...
04.01.2022 Guess what surprise we bought today?? We now breed White Bellied and Black Headed Caqiues!
