23.01.2022 Dai Duit (Hello) from Boorowa Boorowa’s Irish Woolfest is a major event for NSW and a highlight on the Hilltops Region's Spring calendar. It is unfortunate that the iconic event will not proceed in its traditional format this year. The Irish Woolfest Committee and Hilltops Tourism Team remain focused on increasing visitation and supporting the local economy. ... We will be working in consultation with the community on innovative ways to do this. Do you have any great ideas for virtual or Covid-19 safe activities? Let us know what you would like to see. See you in Boorowa, you'd be sheepish to miss it!

20.01.2022 Canola hunting in the #HilltopsRegion Did you know that canola takes almost all the nitrogen from the soil it grows on and because of this the soil needs to rest between crops? If you go canola field hunting bear in mind that you will never find canola planted on the same field two years in a row. If you are travelling through the Region to see our golden hills please remember;... Do not stop on a bend or a crest Pull your vehicle completely off the road in a safe location Never enter private property or walk through crops, if you venture in you may damage or introduce pests to the crop. Plus you will be trespassing - let’s remember that this is someone’s livelihood you are stomping on. Rachael Lenehan Photography #roadtrip #canola #springtime #infullbloom #LoveNSW See more

16.01.2022 The annual 'Running of the Sheep' in Boorowa is going virtual this year! Covid - 19 has turned the tables on Boorowa's annual Woolfest celebrations for this year. However, all is not lost and we are having a Virtual Woolfest! The highlight of the festivities during Woolfest has to be the Running of the Sheep down the main street of Boorowa. At 12pm 150 sheep make their way down the street urged on by one of our local farmers and his dogs! It is an incredible si...ght! Each of the sheep is tagged with a number and like all Australian sports everyone can add the extra thrill of a lottery and win a cash amount by purchasing one of the sheep's numbers! $5 could turn into $250! There are multiple raffle pools of the 150 sheep numbers! In previous years there have been 4-6 winners of the raffles on the day! St. Joseph's School Boorowa uses the Running of the Sheep Raffle as one of its major and essential fundraiser events for the year. Monies generated go towards upgrading the School's facilities, providing student's with resources, excursions and program opportunities to enhance and support the their learning and engagement at School. We hope you can be a part of and enjoy participating in our 2020 virtual Running of the Sheep. A video of the sheep being run down the road will be uploaded on the day, as well as the announcement of the winning number! We will contact all winning entries on the day and post these on our website and facebook pages. Thank you for your support of our rural School. Brendan Maynard Principal

08.01.2022 This Spring pack your bags, hook up the camper, and head to Boorowa in the Hilltops Region, for a well-deserved break. After plenty of rain and some sunny days the Boorowa scenery is simply stunning, intensified by the early flowering of canola crops. On your visit you will find checkerboard green and golden paddocks, sparkling dams and waterways all set under a vast canopy of sky. It is a perfect antidote to cabin fever and a dream setting for your Instagram shots. ... Whenever the date of your arrival in this scenic setting you’ll find Boorowa offers plenty to entice: heritage trails, bike tracks, Irish history, beautiful churches, a architecturally designed and pioneering war memorial with military history. Picnic or exercise in our exquisite local parks and gardens. Sample local food at pubs, clubs and cafes in the town. Stock up on great local produce, crafts and giftware at unique boutiques or make your purchases online for home delivery. Our 24th Irish Woolfest has been rejigged this year from its traditional October long weekend event to a broader celebration encompassing the Spring season. There are plenty of caravan parks and breathtaking RV friendly locations to set up the caravan and unwind. You may prefer a town cottage or farm stay, pub or motel accommodation. All can be found at visithilltopsregion.com.au Once settled, set forth to outlying villages or embrace water pursuits in the Murrumbidgee at Jugiong or Wyangala Dam. Drive through the region visiting local wineries and orchards (there are no cherries at this time of year, but the blossoms put on quiet a show). So come to Boorowa this spring, you'd be sheepish to miss it http://irishwoolfest.com.au/home/2020-spring-passport/ #CometoBoorowa #SpringintheHilltopsRegion #HilltopsRegion
