25.01.2022 KiddiKutter Knives. Many have heard of them, lots more need to. They are the perfect gift for getting your Iris or Bear involved in cutting their own dinner and gaining confidence in the kitchen helping with meal prep without the parental fear of 'Will tonight involve a trip to A&E'... The knife that cuts food.....not fingers! A few of the things I love about KiddiKutter is the development of fine motor skills, helping with hand eye coordination and it teaches independence. The knives are suitable for left or right handed and perfect for all ages from 2 and upwards. Perfect for children with additional needs or a disability to teach important life skills and teach it safely. It's a versatile knife that will cut everything from strawberries to carrots.....just not little fingers. Winning bonus is mums and dads get to eat dinner and know their child is able to confidently and safely cut their own food at the dinner table. You can find these in store at the junction mandurah

25.01.2022 Everyone who knows me well, also knows that I lost my dad in 2017 and just how deeply it devastated me He was ill with many things, one being gastric cancer. Watching him cross over broke my heart into a million pieces and I miss him, I always will. ... The Junction here in Mandurah are coming together to put a team in for this year's Relay for Life. We encourage people to shop small, shop local and support local businesses. It's an important cause, it's also important and personal to some of the team. And it's important to us to give back to our local community too. Be lovely to see support for this and hopefully some friendly faces pop on down to say hi......... or rub my feet on the day. 25.01.2022 I'll go into more about why I do bracelets the way I do soon. But there is a reason for 3. I know crystals isn't everyone's thing, but it is one of mine. ... It's always made me happy working with them, right from my first necklace that I made when my eldest was just a baby. It's something that I do which brings me joy and always has done. Thought I would change it up a little. I wanted a more seamless, simple look and I'm always being asked if I do stretch bracelets. I guess now I do! This pretty lil thing is White Howlite, Rose Quartz and the Iris Mae logo engraved into Australian Sandalwood. You can find these at @thejunctionmandurah here in Mandurah. #essentialoils #crystals #mandurahsmallbusiness #shoplocal #mandurah #westernaustralia #handcrafted #jewelery #braceletsoftheday #minimalist #rosequartz #howlite #sandalwood #thejunctionmandurah #irismaeoils

24.01.2022 I'll be talking more about blue mallee and more this week. I find the world of plant medicine and aromatherapy fascinating. This oil and more will be avaliable in-store the junction mandurah from tomorrow.... X

22.01.2022 I have something I'd like to share with you. Its my love for frankincense. Both oil and the resin. It's gives all those feel good feels when I smell a good frankincense. ... And if you've ever visited Halka B in Fremantle, then you've smelt some of the finest frankincense resin avaliable. I love everything about Halka B. And I'm bringing a starting range of her products tomorrow to @thejunctionmandurah Hali from Halka B has described it perfectly and this is what she has to say, and some of the ways in which it can be used. 100% pure Hojari frankincense resins medium & large tears from the Dhofar region in Oman. Sustainably harvested. Enjoy this heavenly scent of frankincense. It was burned throughout the ages for * slowing down & deepening breathing * soothing the spirit & deep relaxation * enhancing positive mood * enhancing mental perception & memory * deepening meditation * relieving anxiety and reducing negative self-talk * spiritual cleansing * soothing stomach, removing coughs, thinning blood, cleaning wounds, oiling joints and as an antiseptic * repelling mosquitos, sandflies, moths and other insects * demoulding bathrooms, killing germs and bacteria For at least 5000 years Frankincense has been used in meditation, prayer and healing. The calming aroma has been an integral part of spiritual and religious ceremonies in every ancient civilisation in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East India and China. Only recently, modern science is rediscovering the properties and uses of this ancient and revered resin. Clinical trials are investigating Frankincense to be used to heal wounds, significantly ease inflammatory gastric symptoms, alleviate depression and reduce the effects of arthritis . *Please note that these statements have not been evaluated by the TGA and it is important that you undergo your own research into the therapeutic properties of this frankincense* And what I have to say about it is...... It's worth it...... you are worth it....... come home to your soul... unafraid and authentic in your step. X

20.01.2022 I feel so mixed about posting at the moment. But in light of many doing the right thing and beginning self isolation unless necessary and keeping kids home from school. This is a product that may be of use. This is a kiddikutter knife. ... They are designed for children and cut food not fingers. This is a life skills utensil basically. It enables your child to learn to use a knife safely and without a trip to ED. Because let's face reality...... who wants to be anywhere near there right now or in the coming months. You can have your child safely helping prep food..... learning from home through different measures. We have these in-store currently at the junction here in Mandurah. But I also fully understand the need for social distancing. I'm high risk, very much so for myself. My daughter is high risk too. Unless I am required to be out, I'm at home and so are my children. You can also order these online through kiddikutter if you are self isolating. I wish for nothing more than for us all to flatten the curve. For WA to see this through, work together and come out the other side of it all as intact as an economy as we can. It's a tough spot to be in as a small business currently. Any business really and any families that's directly impacted with closures and suddenly without income. I do however encourage support local, we need it now more than ever. Our business community is trying our best to still do business and trade and do that as safe as we can provide it. We are all in this together, let's work together........ whilst maintaining social distancing of course. Stay well. 19.01.2022 For all who know me personally, also knew that this event was something this year that some way, some how I would be participating in. Losing Dad shattered me. I didn't realised how much I had to miss until it was gone. Dad fought a fight he had no chance of winning due to other health issues that prevented treatment. ... This weekend our family is walking the relay for life. The Junction South West Collective have a team entered, we walk for loved ones lost and for those that fought hard to stay. This is a personal thing for every member of our team. I chose to donate differently and I've kept it pretty private till now. I didn't want to just ask for money. Through Iris Mae sales made at the junction during our fundraising, I have donated a percentage of my sales made. So this is thank you instead. For anyone who has shopped in-store at Iris Mae, thank you on behalf of my family and The Junction Team. I haven't posted this for you to click the link and donate. Instead, come on down. See why we do this and walk a lap or two with us. We will be found at Meadow Springs Sports Ground from 11am Saturday to 11am Sunday. What we have there is a fundraising hamper raffle with products from many of our small businesses at The Junction. Some lucky ducky is going to walk away with a treat of goodies. As small businesses at The Junction, we encourage to shop local. This is our way to pay it forward and support our local community. Be nice to see some friendly and familiar faces. Might even need a hug, it's a bloody tough weekend emotionally for me. Nic X https://secure.fundraising.cancer.org.au//RelayforLi/CCWA

17.01.2022 Looking for a cute diffuser for a child's bedroom or medium sized space. No probllama....... In store @thejunctionmandurah are these cute lil guys. We donate $1 to the junction relay for life team. X

17.01.2022 Sunday was 2 years.... Leading up to losing dad, I remember saying over and over again that I wanted him to be at peace. He was suffering and it was breaking me watching from afar and not being able to help. I blindly thought I would feel better with him being pain free and at peace. Then along came grief and it's pretty much shattered me. It took me within, lots about me has changed. Still me, but fiercer and stronger within. ... Restablishing boundries and learning how to break down walls and work on what's behind it. I've had amazing people help with that and understanding myself through it. They know who they are. Thought to myself 'I can't wait to heal from this' Biggest thing I learnt is that I never will, nor do I want too. I had an incredible dad, he broke cycles of trauma and gave us a childhood that is a happy one to look back on. I'm not going to heal, because there is so much beauty through the pain and it's ok to have a lot to miss and it's ok to acknowledge that. It was awesome that the junction was keen to put a team into relay for life this weekend. We all had our personal reasons to relay. Everyone involved in any relay for life does. It's not for likes or attention. It's for love. Love for survivors, carers and those gone too soon. We all have a lot to miss and this was our way to give back. I've been tired and sore as hell here. But it was worth it. I miss the meerkat

14.01.2022 I love coffee......I'm very selective about my coffee too. I closed right up on everything during isolation. I needed to because of my own health being high risk and I needed to listen to what the specialists told me to do. It was very confronting and overwhelming what was said.... I also quite simply needed a break from everything on a personal level, to just stop and chill. I know from talking with others that I was far from alone in that need. So all that for me meant I stopped and stayed home. I wasn't buying anything other than essentials, therefore it also felt inappropriate for me to advertise products for sale too. My choice, my integrity of self. At the start we had no idea how this would pan out for anyone. But watching what was happening overseas was nothing short of shocking and heartbreaking......it still is. I made a promise to myself that my first 'brought' coffee was going to be from my fav coffee lady. I have a few fav coffee places in town, I'll be seeing them shortly too. They all make me coffee to how I've ordered it and it always tastes amazing. My coffee this morning has never tasted so good. I really do love coffee and my kids loved their hot choccy's this morning too. We are starting to reopen the economy which needs to happen and I do believe we are ready for as Western Australia. I'm also ready to rise and stand strong for a new normal that we all so desperately are calling for. We deserve it. And I'm sitting here writing this, sipping away on the best coffee I've had in a long time. Thank you Kristin and thank you Black Velvet & Honey - Mobile Coffee. I utterly adore you and the fabulous coffee you make. X

13.01.2022 The Shakti Mat I have so many questions regarding using the mat and the benefits it can provide. Usually it starts with how do you use it? So below are some helpful tips for first time users.... Tips for your first Shakti Mat experience. *These are just some of the most popular ways to use The Shakti Mat, but there really are no limits. Simply pick a tense area you want to target, and go. *The first time on a new area will often feel sensitive, but over time your body will adjust to the sensations. *Some areas you may find will only need a few minutes of application. While others, like your back, may take more time. *Often the areas that hurt the most, need it the most, as this can be a reflection of tension stored in the area. *When you're starting out on a new area you can adjust the intensity by limiting or adding body weight onto the spikes. The first time Shakti-ing your feet, for example, try sitting on the edge of a couch to limit the pressure that is being applied. *Aim to use your Shakti Mat with bare skin, but you can always start out with thin clothing between your skin and the mat while your body adjusts. Do we at Iris Mae think Shakti Mats are worth it? I wouldn't sell them if I didn't personally believe in them is the answer. In-store currently @thejunctionmandurah We have mats, neck pillows and foot pads avaliable with 10% for the month of December

12.01.2022 My Iris and Bear are looking forward to the long break over summer. I know my kids are going to send me batty at times during the holidays. I know I'm going to joke about looking forward to school going back too.... But this quote is also so true. Because I'm also looking forward to having fun, laxing out, some awfully late bedtime, adventures, love and laughter with them. X

11.01.2022 The Shakti Acupressure Ring Are you wondering what the heck this is? The accu-ring is a portable self massage tool used to activate acupressure points in the fingers. The simulation supports circulation to the fingers, providing warmth to the joints. ... Useful for a variety of reasons including: Healthy circulation Relieving stress Improving focus Rejuvenating tired and stiff fingers Supporting restlessness. So now you know all that, let me tell you how best to use it for yourself. It's all very simple, just roll the ring up and down each finger 20-40 times to activate the acupressure points. Keep it handy for a convenient acupressure on-the-go. You can find these, original strength mats, neck pillows and foot pads from the shakti range in store at the junction here on the Mandurah foreshore.

06.01.2022 It's never a bad brew or a bad bite of food at this place. Clearly I'm also on a get caffeinated rampage today.

06.01.2022 Who loves Essential Oils! One of my favorite essential oils happens to be Douglas Fir.... It's my go to out of all the Fir essential oils. One whiff and I feel like I'm barefoot in the middle of a forest. I couldn't not have it in the initial release of essential oils coming soon. I've sourced extensively to bring top quality essential oils to Iris Mae and although it will take time, we will have a full range. I'm also determined to bring rare oils in as well. And yes, Rose Otto will be one of them. Quality oils at a fair price. Holistic health shouldn't be financially unattainable, and I'm making a very clear stand on that with my price point which will be released over the next week. I'm so excited. I have quite a few things I'm doing right now. It's overwhelming, lots of tears and lots of joy. I'm pretty mud with this social media game, but I have far to much to talk about, and I'm a smidge bit braver. Don't expect live videos from me just yet, I'm actually quite shy and social media overwhelms me. So for now I'll just stick to posting about what I'm up too, and why I believe in both pharma and holistic medicine. There is a big story as to why all this is so important to me. I'll get to that when I'm braver as it's very personal. And when will these oils be gracing the shelves of The Junction Mandurah? ...... that would be sometime this month

02.01.2022 Mental and Emotional Health 2020 Edition: 2020 is a year that I don't think anyone expected or were prepared for. This year has definitely had me baffled and confused a few times. ... I've had to sit with it and ask myself........'Am I ok?' No, I'm not always ok, I have good days and I have dark days. I have a lot going on, more than I'm ready to share here right now. And this year is a wonky donkey. The right people do see through it though and check in. To those who are reading this and check in when they know and can see I'm not ok at times. Thank you. Mental health is something I've had struggles with since my teen years. This is what I know.... It's ok to speak It's ok to feel It's ok to stand up for yourself It's ok to to answer the question of 'Are you ok?'with 'No, I'm not actually' It's definitely ok to ask for help when you are drowning on the inside. Of all the masks not to wear this year, it's the one where we answer with 'Yes, I'm ok' when you know within you are not. As adults, we've never been through anything like what this year has brought to the table. It's ok to acknowledge that Our children look to us for answers that we really don't have a solid answer for and for many children, they are not ok. It's ok to acknowledge that too. Our mental and emotional health is just as important as our physical health. Regardless of age. Let's not forget that bit.
