22.01.2022 Due to the circumstances surrounding Covid-19, there has been an increase in online study and working from home, with the use of computers and screens on the rise. We have had a number of adults contact us for answers to the increasing difficulties they are having with such things as eye strain and fatigue, sensitivity to glare and frequent headaches or migraines. One of these we recently tested, experienced all of these above as well as difficulty with driving at night time.... When she was shown the printed page she reported that the background white of the page appeared very bright and shiny with the words 'kind of moulded together'. She said it was really hard to explain. When we diagnosed her specific Irlen tint, she said 'everything looks so clear now and nothing's moving' on the page. All of what WAS happening on the page but too difficult to explain was no longer happening. This particular client is studying online and she is so looking forward to getting her Irlen Lenses to help with her studies. She also intends to try them for night driving to alleviate the glare from signs, lights and oncoming traffic. Our work is so rewarding being able to help people in this way See more
20.01.2022 I tested a Year 2 boy recently who struggles a lot with reading! He resisted looking at the page throughout the assessment, his body language suggesting he was experiencing discomfort. He kept looking away, rubbing his eyes saying it hurt his eyes to look at the page. He said the words all mashed up and looked fuzzy. All that changed when we found a specific overlay which not only allowed him to comfortably look at the page, but also enabled him to read! We were all so astounded, because he read quite well and wanted to continue to read. He said the words weren't fuzzy anymore and he could see the words clearly. Mum just couldn't believe it because getting him to do any reading had been an impossible task causing them both frustration. He was very happy and excited to get his irlen lenses and get on with reading! And so was mum!!
16.01.2022 We are open for the 2021 year! Hope everyone enjoyed a lovely break and is ready for the start of a new school year
12.01.2022 Recheck Assessments are necessary every 2 years regardless of whether you feel as though the Irlen Lenses are still helping. When Abbey was retested recently, on changing her colour slightly she exclaimed "Better! Yes! Oh wow! First diagnosed in 2007, Abbey has returned every couple of years to have a retest to make sure the colour is correct so she can operate to the best of her ability, initially at school, now in her everyday life. The colour required can change over time and may also fade, so whilst the lenses still may be helping, they may not be optimal. Abbey is thrilled with her new glasses "Seeing the world through my new rose coloured glasses" as she likes to say
