24.01.2022 With one sow having a huge 17 piglets, good old Salty the Pig-Dog has taken on mum duties...She looked after a whole bunch of piggies in the early days, and has formed a special bond with Parsnip, keeping her warm at night and climbing into her basket whenever she gets a bit rowdy.

21.01.2022 The early starts can be a killer in this cold...until you get to see beauties like this!

19.01.2022 Meet Lucky. She's very lucky that she wasn't sold AND that she's not going to be eaten! On to a new life on Ironbark Farm.

18.01.2022 Ironbark Free-Range Pigs are milk-fed. Well, not exclusively But we do have our own milk truck, and we buy excess milk from a regional NSW dairy farm. ... This allows the farmer to recoup some operating costs by selling second-rate milk, provides us with an affordable and nutrient-rich supplemental food source, and best of all it reduces farm waste. And the piggies seem to like it!

15.01.2022 Everyone meet our latest addition to the farm! Rambo our new boar! What a ripper pig, six and half months old and a whopping 95kgs of pure muscle

10.01.2022 This little fluffy-headed cutie is the reason our page has been quiet for a few months! Ella's mum is our Communications Manager and she's been on maternity leave since July. She's back in the saddle and will be keeping you all up to date with the happenings around Ironbark Farm. Congratulations Camilla, and welcome to the farm Ella!

07.01.2022 It's been a bit quiet on the Ironbark Farm Facebook page...but it hasn't been quiet on the farm! June has seen four sows drop record litters (one even had 17 piglets!) and two of our Dexter heifers had calves...ALL on the Queen's Birthday weekend! Kitty, one of our pet goats, also gave birth to twins...just as the cold weather set in. The piglets have all been pre-sold, however we have another two sows ready to drop within the next two weeks. Get in early if you'd like to reserve some piggies.

04.01.2022 Salty isn't the only one to have formed a special bond with Parsnip!

04.01.2022 The Tocal Field Days start today down at the Tocal Agricultural Centre in Patterson! This year we are supplying the piglets for the piglet races at the animal nursery! Come down and watch these funny little piggies race all weekend!

03.01.2022 Except for boundary fencing, most fences at Ironbark Farm are three strand low-voltage electric. Domestic pigs are complacent and gentle animals and need little encouragement to stay in their paddocks. The benefit of temporary fencing is that we can cycle our pigs around the farm, reducing their impact on any one area and allowing grasses and ground-covers time to rejuvenate. This means we:... *need less feed *lose less surface water when it rains *minimise the impact of soil compaction *reduce the potential for rising salinity *reduce erosion *increase mental stimulation by providing a 'new' environment for the pigs to explore every few weeks Happy pigs equal a happy Farm!

02.01.2022 This old girl was our sow that had 17 piglets in one litter...no wonder her tummy was brushing on the ground! This pic was taken just a day or two before she went into labour.

01.01.2022 Part of the free-range life means that our sows get to choose where they want to give birth. This young girl chose a protected nest under the tree cover, rather than one of the purpose built yards. Each to her own!
