25.01.2022 Have just had so much fun looking at all the old photographs. I was in year 2 for the centennary celebrations. Anyone else out there that started Ironside in 1969 (Year 1) and finished in 1975 (Year 7)? I was Annabel Clark back then.

25.01.2022 Y7, 1991! Great cohort, if I do say so myself Ironside has always had a strong sporting tradition. I wonder where these fine lads have ended up? Thanks for lending me your photos, John Drysdale.

20.01.2022 Dear community, We are inviting you to the Ironside State School 150th Anniversary Gala Dinner Saturday, 20 February 2021, at Hillstone St Lucia On arrival enjoy a pre-dinner drink and canapes on the Mango Terrace, with a view of the sunset and sounds of selected string students.... Once seated in the glorious Grandview room, official proceedings will get underway with a two-course meal, wine and entertainment. The keynote address will be delivered by former Ironside student Robert Macklin (alumni and Dux, 1955) who is an accomplished author, journalist and screenwriter. Amongst the 29 books he has written - biography, fiction, non-fiction - is an intriguing tale of life in St. Lucia/Taringa/Indooroopilly area in the 1950s called War Babies - A Memoir. Other highlights include special guest musicians, a showcase of Ironside's history through photographs and memories from Ironside alumni. Akash Rooney (alumni and school captain, 2011) and Hal Chandler (alumni, 2011) and fellow musicians from his band, The Undercurrents, will entertain us following the official proceedings. 18.01.2022 A couple of treasures I found amongst my piano music. 1972 was my book, 1967 was my sister Sandra. Miss Wood took the choir in 1972. I was very keen, she let me join in grade 3. I remember doing a poster for the Centenary performance. ..I spelt choir as "quire"

16.01.2022 Happy 150th birthday, Ironside! On Monday, 10-10-1870, Wiliam Arthy commenced work at our school, known then as Toowong School. He was the first government-employed teacher. The school name changed three more times before settling on Ironside in 1905! For our "Teacher Feature" section today I bring you two famliliar faces for many of our community. Janice Ruddick, (1989-2019) and Cheryl Charlton, (21 year history with Ironside as a student, a teacher, a parent and as an as...sistant principal of junior primary). In fact, Janice commenced at Ironside as Cheryl left, continuing on in the same position. I remember both of these wonderful ladies from my primary school years, as will many more students and teachers. Thank you, Cheryl and Janice! You have been pillars to our community, and our lives are richer for the dedication and care you provided to your students. See more

15.01.2022 First Ironside school orchestra, 1973. On 9 October 1973, Ironside celebrated an evening of music at the Schonell Theatre, University of Queensland. This concert saw the first Ironside Orchestra perform. Also featured were the boys’ choir, massed choir, junior choir, violin class, flute class, clarinet class, recorder class and guitar class. This predated the government orchestra initiative which started in 1976.

13.01.2022 Former staff and students with the 150th-anniversary sub-committee, the book team and the P&C president.
