23.01.2022 3 reason’s why your performance goes backwards 1. Poor sleeping patterns. When you don’t get adequate sleep, you’re jeopardizing your recovery and recovery is where the adaptation occurs. Let’s say you Train strength in the gym but you ain’t sleeping well, this means no gains to very little gains. Strength is the adaptation in this scenario. So whatever training you’re doing eg speed, energy systems development, make sure you’re getting good sleep for you to gain in these are...as. 2. Poor nutrition and hydration means you’re not performing due to the lack of fuel or the quality of the fuel in your body to perform your best in trainings or game day. This also helps with your recovery. The main things for recovery is sleep and nutrition. You need to replace what has been used up. Talk to a sports dietician for their expertise in this area to help you on your performance. 3. Over-training is doing too much and not allowing for enough time to recover to gain the adaptation. High intensity training back to back to back to back on days can do more harm than gain, increasing chances of injury. Look at your training loads and manage it well for better gains. Some will have days of high intensity then low intensity to moderate intensity during the week. This all comes down to what your availability is, what your goal is etc. Avoid over doing it. 22.01.2022 Improve your running by trying to fix up in these 3 areas. 1. Posture - long and strong from head to heel. 2. Leg action - Depends on whether your in acceleration or top speed. Acceleration is more of knee drive and piston like action with positive shin angles for the foot to strike the ground on an angle to propel you forward. Top speed is a cyclical action, like riding a bike. ... 3. Arm action - Short lever in front and long lever at the back. Like a V - shape on the front arm and back arm, is like your trying to throw rubbish backwards. Get better everyday - Iron up and stay sharp
21.01.2022 If you’re slow off the mark or you’re poor with your side steps or lateral movement, it’s because you need to fix up or improve in these 3 areas. 1. Poor mobility and stability. Poor mobility could mean you can’t get good range of motion in the joint which could restrict you from getting lower or allow much power to be produced. ... Poor stability means it takes longer to stabilize before you can move out effectively. Hence why your slow off the mark and poor change of direction. 2. Poor movement patterns Foot placement is slowing you down because you’re using too much braking forces. Your foot is in front of your hips which is like a car riding over bumps. Leg cycle is not efficient which means slow turn over of the legs. So improve your running mechanics will improve your speed. 3. Getting stronger Some people can’t get into good positions or get out of awkward positions because they are not strong enough to hold it and move out from it. They have no power in the legs, so there acceleration is poor. Want to improve your running work on these 3 things. Iron up and stay sharp

14.01.2022 Iron up sports minis rugby league squad at our school holiday workshops. Session planned - Drill 1 - Individual tackles - upper body tackle and legs tackle... Drill 2 - group tackles 2 on 1 Drill 3 - 5 on 1 ( group tackles, no more than 3 in a tackle, no cross-overs and maintain Line integrity) Put it into a game. Each drill must be compliment each other. Don’t just chuck drills together. Be outcome focused. Things to think about. Get it right, slow it down and speed up when necessary, coach to get the result, don’t let things slide, be critical but not too critical to kill confidence. Iron up and stay sharp
