The free workforce (the family) have cobbled together the only fruit from our first two varieties, and the small amount picked is available at the Gull service station in Karragullen. 23.01.2022 Many people ask to go into our orchard and many more want to pick our cherries themselves. This story may show folks why we do not allow this. Last weekend a family came to Irymple Cherry Orchard without permission they went straight into the trees and their young son started to climb a cherry tree. He immediately broke off a very large branch covered in unripe cherries. It held over $300 worth of cherries all destroyed because they were far too green to eat. The family were embarrassed and immediately left the farm but the damage was done. If we are not busy and there are ripe cherries close to the shed we sometimes take people to see the cherries to take photos only. We treat our cherries with great respect and we ask customers to understand this. So sorry we do not allow cherry picking.

We had: healthy choices, wonderful folks posing amongst the cherries, a range of the cutest kids after a cherry munch up and produce made from our cherries. 08.01.2022 The BAD News: We had a huge amount of rain - and hail, and it lasted over many days and we are still uncertain about the level damage to our crop. And it is forecast to rain AGAIN this weekend. The GOOD News: we managed to pick a fair few prior to the deluge. We are packing over the next few days - so the rule for the locals - if the sign is up we are in the shed. Today we are finishing off the Empress. Good sweet cherries $12 for 500 gram punnets. $25 - $30 for 2kg family p...acks ( some splits and doubles) - *** stock limited. By tomorrow we will move onto Earlise. Larger cherries. 06.01.2022 Hello to all of our wonderful supporters. It is with sadness that we have to announce that there will be no cherries available this year. The combination of a long hot summer, a short mild winter and recent hail strikes have caused our crops to fail.... We will be resting our trees for a year and getting ready to hopefully return bigger and better in 2020. Unfortunately this is the nature of agriculture, however it's pretty devastating for us. I hope you will all remember us again next year. Until then, please continue to support your local growers and farmers where you can. Xx The Bettenay family.

We have received over 100ml of rain as well as hail which has effectively and efficiently destroyed many upcoming varieties. We will be able to take stock and see if anything is salvageable at a later date. Please pray to the weather gods to stop this rain and return to normal weather asap.
