20.01.2022 Kicking off the countdown to 2021 as we enter the dusk of 2020 There seems to be a lot of anxiety for 2021 to be a lot of things that 2020 wasn’t. I wouldn’t want to be in 2021’s shoes - I don’t think I could handle all that pressure At the end of the day, many things will stay the same, and lots of things will be different, mainly in ways we couldn’t imagine beforehand. Some of those things we have control over, most of them not so much.... There seems to always be a fine balance between ritualising moments of renewal on the one hand, and remembering that big changes happen incrementally over time, with the small daily things that we do . One of the biggest things we *can* control is our expectations and the way we talk to ourselves. So as we enter the final breaths of 2020, let’s try to remember to bring kindness and reasonable expectations into the first breaths of 2021. #2020 #2021
19.01.2022 You might have read my recent post of 7 'low-hanging fruits' in terms of lifestyle changes that can help to reduce (chronic) stress. Here, you'll find 7 mindset shifts that can help you manage (chronic) stress. Mindset shifts don't happen overnight and are particularly difficult to do if you're feeling absolutely overwhelmed.... If you haven't already, I suggest focusing on lifestyle changes first, before mindset! You can find those in my recent post Reducing (chronic) stress: 7 low-hanging fruit If you would like to join me in class, you can find my schedule in my bio. Please DM me to sign up!
16.01.2022 Such a pleasure to have taught two yoga classes this week at Merribee. Those gardens pretty much did half of my work for me; hard not to float away in peace surrounded by lavender and roses #yoga#yogasequence#creativesequencing#creativesequence#yogainspiration#liforme#playbook#playbookapp#yogateacher#yogaeveryday#yogaposes#yogaforbeginners#yogaforall#yogarecovery#prana#yogainspiration#yogalife#yogaathome#yogaeveryday#motivation #fitness#mentalhealth#meditation#love#psychology#lifestyle#merribeehouse #merribeegardens #merribee
15.01.2022 It was a year in which too much has occurred to encapsulate in one caption. Instead, I will just focus on one particularly special day; the day when: - encouragement from family and friends across the world allowed us to celebrate despite quite a few challenges - and the wilful sleurink family found a way (including @annesleurink & @eline_sleurink) - the support of the best man stood in for an entire family (and for Zoom technician; @dobbbs).... oh and he also uncovered a... latent singing talent - the story of Baucis and Philemon was told more beautifully than I could ever have imagined (@ katiebsheps) and illustrated by the talented Sophie - a new priest was made, and he blew us all away (@ mgbmorrison88) - his vows got the biggest laugh of the day And so, so much more. Also an opportunity to revisit the wonderful photos taken by @janneketolweddingphotography and Charlie B. Looking at these photos again I feel grateful to have experienced that weekend. Particularly when I am conscious that so many people had to pass up on special occasions with family and friends, not to mention the deep anxiety and struggle experienced globally this year. Thank you all; every single person who was present in person, digitally or in spirit . See more
08.01.2022 Don’t have a tree so me and this ficus would like to wish you a very merry Christmas. Enjoy and exhale!
06.01.2022 Anxiety: the 8th tool I’d always resisted https://www.sustainingcalm.com//anxiety-the-8th-tool-i-d-a A few weeks ago, I shared a list of tools with you that I turn to in times of anxiety (and when I can remember) In case you missed it, you can read "Anxiety: 7 tools..." on my website, and, as a reminder, the list was:... 1. Let go of expectations 2. Take care of our physical beings 3. Get in touch with those who truly understand and love you 4. Get into nature 5. Cry when we need 6. Be kind towards yourself 7. Find repetition in actions This week, in my new blog post, I share the crucial 8th tool. Read it here if you're interested: https://www.sustainingcalm.com//anxiety-the-8th-tool-i-d-a
