25.01.2022 A special message from some of the Isa Highlanders dance students to say thank you to the Mount Isa community for their support over the last two weeks

23.01.2022 This weekend a number of our kids were supposed to be competing in the Champion of Champions Championship of Australia on the Gold coast, but due to all covid-19 travel restrictions and comp cancellations a couple of them decided to perform an IsoFling in the backyard campground #covid19. #IsoFling #backyardcampground

22.01.2022 Thank you Rotary for including Isa Highlanders in your community benefits tonight. As with all small groups over the year of covid there have been alot of missed opportunities to raise funds and the generosity of Rotary has assisted us greatly in keeping our doors open for our kids. Our small band of parents are grateful for the money received. You have put us back on track. Thank you again.

20.01.2022 Memories If you grew up Highland dancing, post a current photo next to one from back in the day... #isahighlanders

11.01.2022 Annual Halloween fancy dress sleepover...

08.01.2022 After a turbulent couple of months working within Covid-19 restrictions and regulations our Isa Highlanders have finally been able to complete their annual exams today. We have dancers from Grade 1 through to Intermediate and Jig and Hornpipe. A bit later in the year than normal so quite a hot day for our dancers but they all did it with a smile. A big thanks to Mrs Pam Breen for accompanying our dancers, we are one of the few schools that still use an accompanist for our exa...ms and we are ever so grateful to Mrs Breen for the time that she puts in for us. Thanks also to our examiner Ellen for flying in from Brisbane for the day and braving the heat to allow our kids to keep on track with their exams. Last but not least... Mary-Jane, thank you for always getting the best from our dancers even when they are exhausted and for giving them the motivation to continue with this incredible sport.

06.01.2022 Piano is all ready for exams (just need the kids to be ready - all a work in progress) - Thanks Nick from @Far North Qld Piano Services

05.01.2022 Kids with extra energy? Why not try Highland Dancing? This fun, athletic style of dance, originating from Scotland, will keep them fit and off the couch. Catering for beginners to advanced, ages 4 - adult, means you can enjoy Highland at any age! Dancers also have the opportunity to participate in numerous displays and competitions as well as annual exams. Lessons are held every Tuesday and Friday - 6 Wellington Road, next to the netball grounds.

05.01.2022 Hope every mum is enjoying their day today

03.01.2022 A few weeks ago the Isa Highlanders dance studio was broken into and trashed. To say this was a blow to these talented young people, and their teachers and fam...ilies, would be a huge understatement. Amazingly however, in true small town style, the Mount Isa community has since then rallied to get the studio repaired and back up and running. I was also pleased to be able to provide a donation, on behalf of the Traeger electorate, to help the dancers get back on their feet. They thanked me with chocolates and a card yesterday, as well as an impromptu Highland dance lesson - Robbie Katter #KAPteam #qldpol

03.01.2022 Tuesday means highland today. See you there

02.01.2022 There will be no dance classes on Friday, as we want to make sure the dance hall is very clean and glass free for the kids when they return. Normal classes will resume on Tuesday the 23rd of Feb, and there will be another opportunity for those who wish to come and try Highland Dancing at 3:30pm and 5:15pm on Tuesday. Could we please ask all the kids that have the new purple Highland Dance Polo shirts if you could wear them on Tuesday to your dance class, for a "Very Special Project" we want you to be involved in. If you wish to purchase a polo shirt, they are $40 and we have various sizes including adult sizes.

01.01.2022 For people wanting attend the end of year competition 13th November

01.01.2022 A massive thank you to Helen who has spent 3 days with the Isa Highlanders for an intensive workshop weekend. This has been great preparation for our team heading to the Gold Coast in 5 weeks for the Champion of Champions. Their muscles are sore but their spirits are high and they are all excited to put what they have learnt into practice. We are all grateful to be able have such an amazing teacher come to Mount Isa and work with us.
