25.01.2022 'Andrea knows that women treated with respect and equality will ensure a fairer world is created for today and the future.' Thank you City of Stirling for sharing our CEO's inspiring story. To celebrate #InternationalWomensDay this Sunday 8 March, we're sharing stories of inspirational women who do incredible work within our City ... Andrea Creado is 45 years old. She migrated from India in 2001 and is the current CEO of Ishar, a multicultural women’s health service situated in the City of Stirling, offering services to approximately 5000 refugee and migrant women each year. Andrea began her career at Ishar in 2002 as a volunteer and worked in many roles, developing several programs before taking the leadership role of CEO in 2007. Andrea has fostered a valuable partnership with our Community Services Team and as it stands, Ishar delivers two services in partnership with the City. These services; the Neighbourhood Mothers Program and the Settlement, Engagement and Transition Support Program for Refugees contribute towards successful settlement of refugees living in the City of Stirling and surrounding suburbs. Andrea's goals include tripling the service offerings at Ishar, expanding the services from mainly women’s health to three streams of Health, Family Support and Carer Support. She also hopes to roll out the Establishment of the Domestic Violence Support Program at Ishar. This year's theme #EachforEqual is important to Andrea, as she understands that women make up half of our population and have a major influence in shaping future generations through their roles. Whether this be as parents or professionals in a variety of industries dominated by women including education, nursing and social support services, Andrea knows that women treated with respect and equality will ensure a fairer world is created for today and the future.

05.01.2022 Vote for Ishar & help us support women experiencing Family & Domestic Violence. https://www.australianethical.com.au//fo/community-grants/ Over the past 4 years, Ishar has seen an increasing number of women who are seeking help with family & domestic violence. Our current programs have increased by over 500% since the second half of 2017. ... Since COVID 19 our FDV services and incidences of FDV have increased by a huge 20% with new and existing clients needing more support. The social isolation, the economic destabilisation that's occurred gives perpetrators of domestic violence additional opportunities to exercise control and power and to be violent. We provide a strength-based program to support these women which must continue long after the restrictions ease. By using the innate strengths of the women, their self-confidence and self-belief will be rebuilt so they can become independent and make informed decisions in theirs and their children’s best interest. Please vote for us in the Australian Ethical Super so we can employ a Counsellor to provide essential strategies for coping and emotional support. https://www.australianethical.com.au//fo/community-grants/ #australianethicalcommunitygrants #health #womenshealth #multiculturalwomen #refugeewomen #migrantwomen #perth #domesticviolence #whiteribbon #domesticviolencesurvivor #ishar See more
