Thanks again to Peter and Narelle. ... #isisgolfclub #stayinchilders #childersgolf

19.01.2022 The wonderful sport of golf.

19.01.2022 We at Isis Golf Club were honoured to host today's Wide Bay Ambrose event with a good field of local and visiting players in attendance. With the course in great condition and lovely weather, a good day was had by all and some terrific scores were carded. Congratulations must go to Chris Crouch, Royce Blair and Laurie Dakin who had a narrow victory with a great score of 57 nett. Damien Dowling, Steve Cole and John Cole were hot on their heels with 57.2. Two groups follow...ed close behind on 57.7, with Graham Anderson, Mitchell Anderson and Phil Kennedy taking out third place on a countback from Vicki McAulay, Mark McAulay and Ray Walker. The longest drive on 3 was won by Damien Dowling with an absolutely outstanding 297 metres, whilst a touch of brilliance from Chris Crouch gave him the most accurate drive on number 8. The length and accuracy were of equal value and both shots were impressive, so congratulations gentlemen. You left the rest of us in awe. The pinshot on 1 and 10 was won by Kieth Rule, Larry Pershouse and Peter Hrelja at 2.24 metres. Kieth said it was his only contribution for the day. Patrick Kennedy, Nigel Radin and Tony Rosmalen took out the pinshot on 4 and 13 with 1.06 metres. Nicely done! For the rest of us who were there for the good company and sheer love of this sport, our highlight was the table full of tasty treats that welcomed us back to the clubhouse. So many thanks must go to the beautiful ladies who generously donate their time, and worked all day to keep our bellies full......we love your work. Of course we can not underestimate the gentlemen behind the bar, because lets be honest....we are all looking for a frosty beverage after what can often be hard work out there. The good people behind the scenes also deserve special mention for their work on the course. Their tireless effort and commitment does not go unnoticed. Thank you fellow golfers for a fantastic day, and we look forward to your company in the future. We hope you all enjoyed your day and happy golfing.

18.01.2022 GOOD NEWS The Queensland Health Department is now allowing golf to be played on all courses across Queensland. There are certain conditions and rules we MUST abide by: 1. The clubhouse remains closed 2. Please do not take alcohol onto the course as we are still considered licensed. ... 3. Both the flags and rakes have been removed for your safety. 4. There will be a rough diagram of pin placement on the notice board. We suggest you take a photo of it on your phone before heading out to play. 5. Please do not use ball washers 6. Score cards are available in the payment box at the front of the club house. Please put a glove on before opening this box. Thank you, stay safe and most importantly be kind! See more

14.01.2022 Congratulations to Helen Ricciardi & Fiona Dowling on defending their Ladies Foursomes title yesterday. The ladies said it was a lucky win by only 1 shot. Runners up in the gross were Kerry Schnack and Leanne Windeknecht. Nett winners were Vicki McAulay and the up and coming very talented junior Amara Burns, with Cynthia Draper and Cecily Fay taking out the nett runners up prize. Well done to all the worthy challengers yesterday. Best ladies field in a lot of years!

13.01.2022 Here’s a blast from the past. We can’t remember what year it was, but these were a few of the ladies from Isis Golf Club attending a carnival in Gin Gin. Back row left to right: Jan Hrelja, Monica Madsen, Yvonne Bunn, Charm Powell, Suzanne Toh, Val Plath, Jan Mungomery and Helen Franklin. Front Row: Joan Kelly, Helen Ricciardi, Joan Wright, May Brain and Gayle Trevor.

13.01.2022 Few new golf rules for the coming weeks and possibly months folks. These rules are for both Vets on Tuesday, and Saturdays’ competitions. 1. No sharing of carts, unless you share a house 2. Hit off will be staggered from 10.30am, and you need to phone or message Vicki McAulay to book a timeslot. It will be easier if you have your own group organised but not essential. Her phone number is 0417738092 3. Social distancing before and after play must be adhered to... 4. Please don’t pick up other people’s balls or clubs 5. We appreciate its unsportsmanlike, but please do not shake hands after your match 6. Wash your hands with soap as soon as you arrive at the club, and immediately after your match is over. This means prior to entering the club. Thank you for your understanding and patience, and remember it’s everybody’s responsibility to stay safe and keep others safe. Especially given our average demographic Let’s look out for each other, and stay kind.

10.01.2022 The following is a post from Aldridge State High School Principal regarding the sad passing of our former member Brett Martell this week. Our sincere condolences to Brett’s wife Cathy and his children Sophie and Will, both former members of our juniors. ******** It is with great sadness that I pass on the news of Brett Martell's sudden and unexpected passing just after 4pm yesterday afternoon. The condolences of the Aldridge School Community are extended to Cath, Sophie, Wi...ll and Brett's broader family and many good friends. Family was consistently at the heart of Brett's thoughts and his love for, and pride in, both his children was always evident in both his words and the lengths he went to in supporting their endeavours. He had a special place for the "Aldridge" family as well. Brett's various roles of Ag teacher, Senior Schooling HOD, HOSES, DP (Special), DP (Secondary) at Aldridge has meant that he has engaged with many staff and students across the entire range of school activity. His preparedness to give of his own time to enhance learning opportunities for staff and students alike was a feature of his work at the school. At the start of the year Brett had returned to Aldridge following acting stints at North Lakes where he had been firstly a Junior School DP and then an acting Head of Campus. Brett will be greatly missed by many. While we mourn the passing, let us also celebrate the man. Vale Brett Martell. Regards Mr Ross Higgins Principal Aldridge SHS See more

10.01.2022 Today sees the return of our normal Saturday 12.30 tee time folks! Remember social distancing rules still apply, and we ask you to wash or sanitise your hands each and every time you enter the clubhouse. Thanks for your cooperation, and happy golfing!

09.01.2022 A little morning debate to warm us up! Do you like the flagstick in or out? I personally don’t believe it’s made the game any faster, as what I’m finding is one has it in and the next out, and then we have to put it back in again etc. Interesting article below on the subject.

08.01.2022 Today is the start of the golfing year for our vets, and we're beginning with everyone's favourite, single stableford event! If you're visiting from out of town, and are a member at another club, please feel free to join us for a 12 noon hit off! #isisgolfclub #childersgolf #visitchilders #isisvets

08.01.2022 **IMPORTANT** As of yesterday, 23 March, the Isis Golf Club is closed completely until further notice. This is under advice from Clubs Queensland who we have spoken to directly. Because our Club is licensed over the entire course the entire course HAS to be closed. There are massive fines for anyone, or any club found breaking these rules and police will be enforcing these fines. We will update the members if this situation changes. ... We’re not alone in this ruling, and this decision was not made by our Committee, but by law! #staykind See more

08.01.2022 A big thank you goes to our fantastic sponsors today, The Childers Butchery! Thanks Jamie and Cathy. Your sponsorship is greatly appreciated! Some of us were luckier than others, to win those great vouchers! #shoplocal #visitchilders

08.01.2022 Congratulations to Vicki McAulay and Harry Zawacki on winning the mens’ and ladies’ Vets VIP final! Harry says it’s the first time in 3 months he’s actually played to his handicap, and Vicki claims she just didn’t play as bad as everyone else in the field! #golfsbradburyaward #vetsvipfinal #isisgolfclub #visitchilders

05.01.2022 Morning golfers! Hope isolation is treating you well. We’ve decided to put our flags back, but in a way where you don’t have to touch them. We’ve placed pool noodles in the bottom of the hole, so this should make getting your balls out easier WITHOUT touching the flag. Remember to wash your hands before and immediately after your round. ... Stay safe and be kind! Happy golfing See more

04.01.2022 Congratulations to Chris Crouch & Peter Hrelja on their 2019 Mens’ Foursomes Championship win yesterday. This pairing was only organised on Tuesday after a very fortuitous conversation indeed when they realised neither of them had partners! Well done fellas!

03.01.2022 Sunday the 8th of September was the decided date the Ladies and Gentlemen of our wonderful little club would combine forces and battle it out for the Mixed Foursome Championship. We arrived in good numbers, full of enthusiasm, and prepared for a day of fun. The sun was shining although the gusty conditions were the hot topic of conversation in the clubhouse. So the scene is set...the bell has rung...and are we ever more hopeful than the beginning of a round? The first tee g...Continue reading

02.01.2022 UPDATE As per the Prime Minister’s update yesterday regarding public gatherings, groups are now limited to 2. Strictly no alcohol to be brought onto the course. We have heard Cairns course was shut down completely after someone brought their own drinks with them. ... Please remember golf is still being played ONLY because it’s considered exercise, so don’t ruin it for everyone by doing the wrong thing. At the moment you need to think of your favourite sport as a privilege and not an entitlement. Stay safe and be kind
