This is a story of new dreads and their first fix- so that you can have a good understanding of how dreads change and take form over the first few months of life and why the FIRST 2 MAINTENANCE SESSIONS ARE SO IMPORTANT! - this first picture is the dreads fully maintained after their first fix at 3 1/2 weeks - The next picture is this beautiful thick head of hair before it was dreaded -Picture number three is the dreads after they were first made - Picture number four is ...the dreads ready for their first fix up. As you can see the bodies are well and truly locked in and taking a wonderful form but we have those first bits of fluff and loose hair escaping. -The following pictures are the before and after is of the first maintenance session- Making sure that maintenance is carried out with the first session at 3 to 6 weeks after making and the next session at 4 to 8 weeks after making makes such a massive difference as to how your dreadlocks will set. Doing this 1st to fix ups insures that your dreadlocks will sit neatly and after these first two sessions that’s when regrowth sessions are required which is anywhere from 1 to 3 months if you want to keep on top of your dreadlocks looking neat and some people only need to do their maintenance every six months to a year. This all depends on how your hair compact how are your dreadlocks grow out and how you are comfortable with your hair being. So if you have a new set of dreadlocks and they’re getting fluffy and crazy that’s what they’re supposed to do!
