25.01.2022 2020 SEASONAL POSITIONS Applications are now being taken for the 2020 Crushing Season. Head to https://www.isissugar.com.au/Careers for the prositions available and to apply. Applications close 29th May 2020.

25.01.2022 Week 17 2020 Crushing Season This week the Isis Mill processed 53,740 tonnes of Sugar Cane through the Rollers. This took the year to date production figure to 675,020 tonnes. The CCS was recorded as 15.48 units which when compared to the previous week was down ever so slightly by just -0.03 units. All eyes are now focused on the 2020 year to date CCS at Isis Mill as it continues to climb. The year to date figure was recorded as 14.70 units and at the time of reporting wa...s the highest Year to Date figure in the Queensland Sugar Industry. The highest individual CCS for this week was attributed to a Bucca Grower who supplied Q208 1st ratoon cane at 17.89 units of CCS. The Mill Estimate was recorded as 813,474 tonnes on Friday November 6th, 2020. Crushing throughput daily rates have been around 8,400 tonnes in recent days and when we do the maths, the calculations tell us that we have around 135,000 tonnes of cane left to process. In forecasting a completion date for the 2020 season there are several variables to consider, these include, Crushing hourly rate, Lost time due to mechanical issues and Wet weather. We have allowed a small percentage of lost time in these calculations and if things go to plan, we expect that the 2020 crushing campaign at Isis Mill would be completed after allotments on Wednesday November 25th . Field conditions at present are very dry and apart from the dust they are not creating any significant issues to an orderly completion of the 2020 crushing season. The change from 5 day a week mode to a continuous crushing cycle has also created some issues for Harvesting and Haulage Contractors. Field Staff will continue to closely monitor these specific situations and address issues as they arise. The risk of accidental fire is also very high at present with the ongoing drought and sapping wind making the whole of our cane supply region vulnerable. Growers should check fire breaks to ensure adequacy and re-establish breaks as soon after harvesting as possible. Hopefully we will get some rainfall in the next week or two to relieve the current fire risk.

20.01.2022 Week 18 2020 Crushing Season The Isis Mill processed 52,269 tonnes of cane through the rollers this week with the year to date figure now showing that 727,289 tonnes of cane have been crushed for the 2020 season. The Estimate has continued to decline slightly down to 810,972 tonnes. If the Estimate was to be realised then there would be around 82,700 tonnes left to process from Friday November 13. The termination of crushing is expected to occur after Harvesting allotment...s on Wednesday 25/11/2020. The Weekly CCS edged slightly higher this week up 0.04 units on last week’s average CCS to be recorded as 15.52 units. This pushed the Year to date CCS higher to be 14.76 units. This upward trend helped us maintain our status as having the highest year to date CCS across the entire Queensland Sugar Industry. The highest individual CCS for the week was recorded by a Family farming business located at Maroondan just outside of Gin Gin. They supplied Q208 Spring Plant cane that recorded 17.66 units of CCS. Harvesting quality continues to be of a very high standard. This week Fibre values were recorded as 13.89% with Ash levels recorded at 1.91%. As we head into the last couple of weeks of the 2020 season, we would like to ensure that we all stay focused on safety. In the last few weeks there have been incidents relating to accidental fire, electrical exclusion zones and vehicles taking unnecessary risk at road and rail interfaces. Thankfully in each of these cases no one has been hurt and minimal damage has occurred however, we take this opportunity to remind stakeholders and the wider community to remain vigilant as Cane Harvesting and Hauling activities continue through this week and well into next week. Please remain alert around Harvesting and Hauling machinery, reduce speed and give yourself and them plenty of room if you encounter them on the region’s roadways. Lookout for electrical infrastructure and re-establish fire breaks.

18.01.2022 Week 16 2020 Crushing Season Harvesting was interrupted this week due to wet weather and while this caused some delays at the Isis Mill the Rainfall was very well received. Rainfall recordings from the network of weather stations indicated that Lagoon Park at Wallaville topped the list on Tuesday October 27 recording 45mms when a line of storms moved through the area. The rainfall continued into Wednesday and by Thursday Morning very healthy accumulated totals were being r...eported. These included Bucca with 72mms, South Kolan with 46 mms, Farnsfield 53 mms, Gregory River 55 mms, Isis Mill 37mms and Childers with 33 mms. As a result of this glorious rainfall Crushing operations ceased around 7:30am on Thursday morning and resumed around 7:00pm on Thursday evening. The Isis Mill processed 51,994 tonnes of Sugar Cane through the rollers for week 16 of the 2020 crushing season. The Mill has now processed 621,280 tonnes of Sugar Cane for the 2020 season to date. The weekly CCS declined slightly on last week’s record of 16.05 with15.51 units recorded for Week 16. The season to date CCS increased to 14.63 units. The highest individual CCS for the week was attributed to a farming family in the Alloway area who supplied the cane variety KQ228 2nd ratoon which recorded 17.79 units of CCS. The cane variety Q240 made up almost 40% of the total supply this week and recorded a weekly average CCS of 15.57 units. Approximately 25% of this week’s cane supply was Q208 and the 13,000 tonnes supplied recorded a weekly average of 15.76 units of CCS. The Isis Mill has now processed approximately 75% of the total crop. The Pre-season Estimate originally forecast at 825,000 tonnes has reduced after Cane used for planting was deducted to now be recorded as 817,802 tonnes available for harvest. This calculates to around 196,000 tonnes of cane remaining to be harvested. Crushing operations are expected to be completed during the last week of November.

15.01.2022 Week 19 2020 Crushing Season This week the Isis Mill processed 47,884 tonnes of cane through the rollers. This took the 2020 crushing season year to date figure to 775,173 tonnes. We are expecting to crush around 808,000 tonnes in total. Therefore, as of Friday November 20 we had around 33,000 tonnes of Cane left to process. ... The Crushing Season at Isis Mill is on Target to be completed sometime on Wednesday 25th November. Field Staff will communicate the actual timing with all stakeholders. The Weekly CCS was recorded as 15.30 units and the year to date figure continues to climb to be 14.80 units. Again, we held our top position in Australia in terms of the highest CCS year to date. We also took out the top position for the highest Weekly CCS across Australia. While the majority of Sugar Mills in Australia were still operational at the time of writing it is difficult to see any of these exceeding the Isis year to date CCS for 2020. The month of November has stayed dry to date with the Official weather site at Childers South recording just dust in the rain gauge for the month to date. The same location has recorded just 481.4 mms of rain for the 2020 calendar year to date. This followed a dismal 307.2mms of rainfall for the entire 2019 calendar year which set a new benchmark as the lowest on record. The Childers South location has an annual average rainfall expectation of 883 mms based on data collected since 1979. As the 2020 Crushing campaign is completed in the next few days across the Isis Mill cane supply area, rainfall of any volume would be very welcome. On a positive note the Prompt Sugar Price has been above 15 cents for a significant period during November.

14.01.2022 Week 1 -2020 Season The 2020 Crushing Season commenced at the Isis Central Sugar Mill at 08:00am on Monday July 13. Operations commenced well during the first few days of the 2020 season and by 7:00am Friday July 17 the Isis Mill had processed 33,783 tonnes of cane through the rollers. The Average CCS for week 1 was 13.82 units which is an excellent result. This is 0.71 units of CCS higher than that recorded for the first week of the 2019 Season.... The highest individual CCS was attributed to an Elliott River Grower who sent in some very sweet Q252 1st Ratoon which recorded 16.5 units of CCS. The 2020 growing season has certainly been a challenge with the prolonged drought impacting the crop. The official weather station at Childers South tells the story with just 367 mms of rainfall recorded for the 2020 calendar year to date. This is well below the long-term regional 12-month average rainfall of 1,000 mms. If the reduced rainfall so far this year wasn’t bad enough it followed on from a miserable record low of just 307.2mms recorded for the preceding 12-months. We take this opportunity to remind all Road Users that machinery associated with harvesting and transporting of the 2020 Crop will be traversing district roads from July through to November.

14.01.2022 Week 3 2020 Crushing Season The wet weather carried over from the previous week with no harvesting or processing occurring on Friday July 24th. The Isis Mill which is operating under a 5 day a week mode for the 2020 season resumed crushing on Monday 27th July and by 7:00am on Friday July 31 had crushed 37,731 tonnes for Week 3.... Isis Mill has now processed 110,911 tonnes for the 2020 Crushing Season. Harvesting conditions have returned to normal after the recent rainfall, however, the CCS dropped slightly possibly due to the influence of the wet weather and was recorded as 13.81 units for the week. The YTD CCS is now 13.95 Units. The highest individual CCS was attributed to an Elliott River Grower who recorded 15.89 units for the Variety Q240 1st Ratoon.

11.01.2022 Week 2 2020 Crushing Season Crushing activities at the Isis Mill were disrupted when widespread showers fell across the region. The showers moved in late in the day on Wednesday July 22 and persisted through until clearing storms pushed them off the coast on Sunday Night. Rainfall totals for the entire event recorded in millimetres were North Gregory 24, Tirroan 14, Bullyard 15, New Valley 14, Kinkuna 20, Redridge 13, Childers South 19 and Bundaberg 17. ... Harvesting ceased overnight Wednesday and crushing at the Isis Mill came to a halt on Thursday Afternoon. A resumption to Harvesting occurred on Monday July 27. The Isis Mill processed 39,397 tonnes through the rollers for the second week of the 2020 Season and has now processed 73,180. tonnes year to date. The CCS rose to be recorded as 14.19 units for the week. This pushed the year to date CCS to 14.02 units. The Variety Q240 made up 56% of the overall cane supply and recorded 14.39 units of CCS for the week. The Highest individual CCS was recorded as 16.35 units for Q240 2nd ratoon which was supplied from a Grower farming at Sharon.

09.01.2022 Week 20 - Final Week - 2020 Crushing Season The 2020 Isis Central Sugar Mill crushing campaign was completed at 1:18pm on Wednesday November 25. The Mill processed 808,814.61 tonnes of sugar cane through the rollers. The 2020 season CCS reached 14.81 units which was the highest Seasonal CCS across the entire Australian Sugar Industry. ... The 2020 Season commenced on Monday July 13 with a pre-season crop estimate of 832,000 tonnes, unfortunately the very dry conditions that had prevailed through 2019 continued throughout 2020 and this resulted in the real crop potential not being realised. Growers struggled to maintain the crop and once again our district witnessed first-hand the need for a reliable cost-effective irrigation scheme. Reality is that in extreme drought conditions non-irrigated farms produce no harvestable crops. However, despite Mother Nature’s shortfalls when you consider those farms that did not supply any cane and the cane taken in both Autumn and Spring for planting, the Pre-Season estimate was fairly close to the actual tonnes crushed. During Week 20, the last week of the 2020 season we processed 33,633 tonnes of sugar cane for a weekly CCS average of 14.52 units. The highest individual test for this week was attributed to a Grower along the Burnett River who supplied Q240 3rd ratoon cane that recorded 17.26 units of CCS. While this was an impressive result, it was 1.41 units below the 18.67 units recorded in Week 15 which was supplied by a Wallaville Farming Family. As the focus now turns to the 2021 crop, we wish to express our gratitude to all stakeholders for their flexibility, cooperation and contribution to the efficient and orderly processing of the 2020 crop Thankyou.

03.01.2022 Nice drop of rain

03.01.2022 Week 5 2020 Crushing Season Once again rainfall has impacted the 2020 crushing campaign at the Isis Central Sugar Mill. The majority of the rainfall fell late in the Day on Friday 7th August, with further showers on Saturday August 8th . Rainfall registrations recorded in Millimetres included Isis Mill 24, Childers 19, Farnsfield 32, Redridge 29, North Gregory 31, Kinkuna 28, Tirroan 20, Booyal 24, South Kolan 36 and New Valley 21.... This rainfall will make a significant difference to the remaining crop and sets a positive outlook for the following season. Soil moisture will be ideal for the upcoming spring plant. The weather finally cleared overnight Saturday however, Harvesting was slow to resume, and a full cane supply was not achieved until late on Monday August 10th with crushing resuming around midnight. Despite the weather-related conditions Cane Quality parameters for week 5 were surprisingly good with Mill average Fibre declining from the previous week to be recorded as 12.96% and Ash which includes dirt at 2.86%. Throughput for the week was 42,848 tonnes and the year to date throughput is now 201,757 tonnes. The Average CCS for this week was 13.86 units and the year to date figure reached 13.94 units. The Cane variety Q240 was supplied in large amounts this week with 20,838 tonnes supplied at 14.12 units of CCS. Unfortunately, our supplier on the Elliott River didn’t take out the highest CCS for Week 5 with the highest CCS of 16.46 units for Q240 2nd ratoon supplied by a Family that farm in the Cordalba area.

02.01.2022 Week 4 2020 Crushing Season Week 4 of the 2020 crushing season was the best so far in terms of throughput for the 2020 Season to date. The Isis Mill processed 47,998 tonnes through the rollers for the 5-day week. The 2020 Crushing campaign got underway on July 13 and to date the Isis Mill has processed 158,909 tonnes of sugar cane. The crop forecast remains static with around 825,000 tonnes of cane estimated to be available for Harvest this year.... Rainfall over the previous week had driven the CCS down slightly to be recorded as 13.81 units in Week 3 but it has quickly rebounded to be recorded as 14.02 units for week 4. The season to date CCS is now 13.97 Units. Plenty of discussion around this week’s highest CCS which was supplied by a Grower who farms along the Elliott River. This grower has now recorded the highest CCS for 3 out of the 4 weeks of the 2020 season to date. In week 1 the grower supplied Q252 1st ratoon which recorded the highest weekly CCS at 16.5 units. Then in week 3 the same grower supplied Q240 1st Ratoon at 15.89 units of CCS which was the highest CCS for week 3 and now in Week 4 the very same grower supplied an Isis Mill 2020 season high CCS of 16.60 units from the cane variety Q240 1st ratoon. We are now eagerly anticipating week 5 results.
