25.01.2022 It’s nice to dream about things like investing in a Muslim-owned business, or starting a charity, or opening that Islamic school. But the truth is you have bills, kids need to eat, you’re saving for uni, you want to go on Hajj, your mother is sick. With every stage in life, something seems to come up and conflict with that wish to build up this community. Eventually, you might even start to think you’ll never do it. That, In Shaa Allah, is one of the reasons the Islamic Will ...is so awesome. In your lifetime, you may always have other expenses which stop you from getting together with other Muslims to build up our community. After you leave this life though, 1/3 of your wealth can stay behind and be put to any good, halal effort you want (Bukhari). Imagine getting together with your brothers and sisters at your local mosque, agreeing that each of you will put in your wills that 1/3 of your wealth will go to a cause you all agree on. Nothing will get in the way then In Shaa Allah. See more

20.01.2022 We often think that taking our kids and spouses on Hajj will increase their imaan.. It may not. Many kids and spouses may still be tempted to get the default shares as per Australian law. That doesn’t change our responsibility to educate them, as well as to get a legally-enforceable Islamic will that reflects the Islamic inheritance rights & helps avoid the temptation. Just before Hajj, get a special $35 discount for your Islamic Will!... Get your wil here: https://reasons.wasiyyah.com.au/hajj See more

14.01.2022 The brother contacted me looking for any loophole he could find. He had family and extended family, and for whatever reason he simply did not want his money and assets going to a number of these individuals. And then he mentioned an adopted child. ‘Can I give the inheritance to the child instead?’ I had to tell the brother that usually...the answer is no. We should give the shares and amounts Allah has ordained for us...even if we do not want to (Quran 4:11). Unless the blood relative is a disbeliever, his/her rights should be respected (Tirmidhi). There was something the brother could do though: a portion of your wealth, up to 1/3 total, can be given in any good and halal way from a donation to an organization, and even to an adopted child(Bukhari).

06.01.2022 I got the call during a weekend Islamic course. The brother on the other line told me his friend had just fallen into a coma and was in the ER. The brother wanted me to make a Will for his friend, but...the problem is once a person is in a coma it’s pretty much guaranteed that the Australian courts won’t honour a Will. Still, you never know; at the end of the day it is Allah SWT who will decide if the Will gets accepted or not. I’ll do it, I said. SubhanAllah I don’t know h...ow much of the course I actually learned after that phone: I spent the rest of the course trying to complete the will. Eventually, I did complete it Alhamdulillah. The brother who had called thanked me, we ended the call, and that was it. I don’t know...I really hope the brother who called has a Will too. See more
