18.01.2022 Writers block? Designers block? ex-lawyers block? Starting Monday with the redesign of our popular 'Curry Masters Gift Box'? I am thinking that it remain 'bespoke' because that reflects the basic qualities of the raw, unrefined wholefood spices which we mix to make the curry paste.. ... otoh if you are a fan of Kiss or Lady Gaga you might suggest a touch of glamour..

17.01.2022 Extra stocks of ingredients in courtesy of Natures Works, Krio Krush, PFD and some specialty suppliers mean we can keep making curry for you as this challenge plays out.. Covid protocols are in place of course. We certainly share concern for people whose lives are forced to change so rapidly..

16.01.2022 Tinkering with the recipes is such a blast.. I hear that about 10% of people don't like fresh coriander and i forgot to buy some anyway, so i substituted fresh parsley.. not bad :) So 500g pork mince with about 80g Island Curries Goan Curry Paste, that's about 2 tablespoons from our 400g jar.. Sauteed an onion in 50/50 sesame/evo Mixed mince, paste, onion, parsley, shredded silver beet and an egg, made into golf ball size meatballs. Browned in hot pan and put in dish med-hot ...oven 15 mins. Meanwhile mixed a 700ml bottle passada, 1/2 can diced toms (leftover) chopped parsley, with 100g Island Curries Chennai Paste. Cooked on high, reduced down, tipped over meatballs, back in oven 5-10 mins and served with rice.. smashed it! See pic. See more

10.01.2022 So we have been thinking about ways we can make the retail jars a better deal for you while being efficient to pack and post. We found that the jar we were using for 200g and 400g can hold 225g and 450g so we have upgraded with little change in price for now. See the shop for details and as we runout the 200 and 400 jars we will delete them. During the transition, if you order a 200 or 400 and it is not on the shelf, we will substitute for the 225/450. Cheers, Kel

02.01.2022 WHEN VOLUME MEANS >>> $AVING$ Do you cook for more than a few? If you do then some of the things I have been considering in the preparation of a Tender Submission might be applicable to you. Check this out.. "When talking to prospective foodservice customers the conversation often includes a comparison between our concentrated products and those obtained from large volume international suppliers such as Pataks. Many of these mass-produced products come in glass jars from dist...ant factories. They contain so many other things than the spices that the number of meals able to be produced from 1kg of product is a lot less. For example, the Pataks Vindaloo 283g jar provides for 8 serves, whereas an equivalent amount of Island Curries paste provides for 16 serves. The Pataks is around $4 and Island Curries Foodservice Vindaloo would be $6.97 ($24.60 per 1kg bag). The cost of the curry paste per serve is less and the flavour arguably better, there is less waste with the Island Curries packaging, less ‘air miles’ and it is a local product, naturally gluten free, naturally vegan friendly AND no allergens. It therefore has a wider application economizing on preparing different meals for those with special dietary requirements. A win for Tassie and a win for the kitchens who are using Island Curries!" So, if you have a foodservice enquiry, talk to us and consider the difference. Island Curries Foodservice products are the same price delivered anywhere in Australia. If you are a Chef and want to give it a go in a business setting, please PM your details and we will call you. Cheers, Kel See more
