25.01.2022 At our previous meeting we celebrated our 15th year as a Toastmasters Club - with a lovely, decorated cake

24.01.2022 Area 3 Social day at Glass House on 28th March. Winner of Novice Speaker, and competitors of Table Topics.

23.01.2022 Members and visitors enjoyed our last meeting of the year, and finished with a delicious Christmas lunch. We meet again on Monday 25.1.16. All welcome.

22.01.2022 My admiration goes to Joy, Gary and Jewel who filled in when Sam, Di and Caroline were absent. Our speakers were very entertaining and informative. Kerry shared one of her working experiences where she learnt to live in the moment so that accidents can be avoided. Joy's speech was such fun. We were given some folded paper where we copied a drawing of a face starting with a big nose then added to it, showing how easy Pathways is to follow. Gary's speech on folding a fitted she...et & having it as a show and tell got all of our attention being women. Also a woman called Bertha ? invented it which seemed appropriate. Gary ran our business session very well. Social Day will be held by Mercury Motivators and Training Day will be at Maroochydore. Pauline our visitor did a wonderful impromptu speech on taking small children to a gallery in Table Topics. Also she shared that she received a lovely warm welcome, educated in Melbourne, worked in Centrecare, always interested in hospital work, Chaplain, community work and classical music very close to her heart. Also, Pauline has 1 son and 2 grandsons. New member, we hope!!! See more

22.01.2022 Only a small meeting none the less an important one. Kerry was presented with a ribbon for achieving her Ice breaker. Cora has completed and received her Certificate for Competent Communicator Award and our hard working Colleen has finally ticked all the boxes and received her Competent Leader award. If that wasn't enough we had a visitor Pauline, who seems very likely to join. Sam got chatting to her one day and invited her along so we should all remember to tell even complete strangers about what we do. An informative meeting... Cheers Joy

21.01.2022 Today two of our members recieved Certificates pf distinction. Joy Rule and Noela Gray were congratulated by Muriel Smith.

21.01.2022 At our Changeover meeting, Joy receives her 'Toastmaster of the Year' Award from President Sam (left) and is then congratulated by Distinguished Toastmaster Muriel.

18.01.2022 Our Monday morning social was very successful. We discussed many items Toastmasters and other alike. Discussion on whether the word of the day should be a vocabulary-enhancing word v's a popular word lead to a decision that we try vocabulary-enhancing words for a while. Evaluation of speeches was also discussed. Various forms of proformas for all types of things will be loaded into 'Members Downloads' on our website - http://islandercommunicators.toastmastersclubs.org/

17.01.2022 On Monday 17th November members from the Club attended the Bribie Island State School Community Afternoon Tea. The Club runs Youth Leadership Programs and a Gavel Club at the school. The picture shows the members being presented with an Appreciation Certificate.

16.01.2022 Area 3 Conference Photo Gallery. Well done Noela for a wonderful day.

15.01.2022 Why win a trophy more than once? I was chuffed at winning the Tall Tales contest (for the first time) at the Clubs of Area 3 Social Day. But would I want to do it again? Since the Trophy has been presented for the past 9 years there have only been 5 (individual) winners. Is it the view from the top that's exciting? Does that view change over years? Is it the joy of the journey getting there? Does one just want to prove to oneself that they can still do it? Rather than having repeat winners, if a previous winner wins at the competition just prior to the 'final' then maybe they can go on as a 'showcase' and let the 2nd place getter have a go at the 'big one'. Just a few thoughts.
