21.01.2022 Here’s one you don’t see every day that any other ‘technician’ would probably tell you your Mac is dead and cannot be economically fixed. Unless you’re Island I.T. that is. A 13 MacBook Pro Retina - functional but no graphics on the Retina display. Works fine on an external display so what could be the issue? It must be related to the internal display connector and / or associated circuitry right? Don’t worry if I’ve lost you. ... The usual diagnosis here would be a failed main board - the standard ‘too hard basket’ fix - and for most that would be the accepted diagnosis. Absolutely committed to fixing this Mac, we had a look under a microscope after the board had been cleaned and we check the display connector etc with no luck...we found a tiny damaged piece of circuitry around the display connector and missing microscopic resistor - these things are about 1/10 mm in size and generally not replaceable or fixable. With a very very steady hand, a couple of razor edges and perseverance, we removed a fresh SMS resistor from an old donor MacBook Pro, soldered it back where the missing resistor used to live and repaired the break in the circuit board track with a tiny piece of wire and a bit of flux to keep things clean. Reassembled and tested. Magic, display now works perfectly and our customer does ‘not’ need to buy a new Mac saving him about $1500. #islandit #expertappletechnicians #islanditportmacquarie #macbookprorepairs #retindisplayrepairs #applerepairs

17.01.2022 Welcome to the new beast about town - Island I.T.‘s shiny new warrior - payload capacity to get whatever you need - to wherever you need it - whenever you want it. Thanks to Macquarie Signs and Tinting as always for the graphics! #ldvg10 #islandit #macquariesigns

06.01.2022 Some data recovery jobs we do require a bit of lateral thinking. Sometimes, use of standard household frozen goods - like this old Apple 1TB hard drive - failing, overheating and very sad - exposed to Aus Grown frozen veggies, we were able to keep the drive cool enough for long enough to recover some important data for our customer. Clever Island I.T! #islandit #datarecovery #computerexperts
