23.01.2022 Hi All, It is with regret that I have made the decision to close down Island Slings. I have had a lot of fun over the last couple of years and met a lot of lovely mums and babies (and a few dads!). But my own babywearing journey is coming to end and it's time to move on to other projects. I'll always be happy to lend a hand to anyone on an individual basis and I highly recommend Southern Tasmanian Babywearers - a lovely group of mums with lots of babywearing knowledge. They meet regularly at various locations around Hobart and would be happy to help anyone out. Cheers and best wishes, Jo-Maree

20.01.2022 A Mama et Bebe ring sling just arrived through our door! The lovely Laurie has recently established this new sling brand and we are testing this one out for her. we have it for one week only so let me know asap if you want to check it out!

18.01.2022 Very excited to announce that Island Slings will now be holding monthly sling library events at The Haven (71 Murray St) thanks to Hobart Mums Network. The first one will be this Wednesday 5th December from 11am till 1pm and then they will be on the first Wednesday of every month. Hope to see some of you there!

17.01.2022 I don't normally like canvassing for votes but if my design wins the competition then the sling library will be getting a gorgeous new Girasol wrap so please head over to Tinoki and vote for number 26. Thanks!

12.01.2022 This is a great video. I usually recommend carrying a newborn upright in a ring sling as it is easer to do safely but if you want to do a cradle hold this video shows the best way to do it.

11.01.2022 Oooh, Island Slings has reached 100 likers! Thanks everyone! It's been pretty quiet around here lately as I'm finding I have less and less time to run the library and I'm trying to work out the best way to continue to make it available. Please feel free to let me know your thoughts - what you want from a sling library etc.

11.01.2022 The Sling library will be at The Haven again on Wednesday morning - come and check out the range of available slings and get some advice. https://www.facebook.com/events/497270113628794/

11.01.2022 Hug-a-bub are giving away a stretchy and a ring sling!

10.01.2022 Island Slings will be at The Haven tomorrow - I'm in the process of sorting through all the slings and getting them organised. See you there! https://www.facebook.com/events/532717950090561/

07.01.2022 Island Slings will be at the Sandy Bay Playgroup tomorrow (Senior Citizens Club, Lambert Avenue) from 10am till noon - come along and try some slings, join the library, get some advice or just have a chat!

07.01.2022 As both a scientist and babywearer I can see lots of things I would change about this study but it's a good start!

07.01.2022 I love the Manduca - especially the way it is so adjustable so can be 'just right' for just about everyone. This is a great guide to how to get it perfect for you.

05.01.2022 Another ring sling arrived at the library today - this one is a Maya Wrap lightly padded ring sling in a lovely bright red colour (thanks tinoki!). These are really comfortable slings - great for newborns and also for quick up and down carries with toddlers. It is available for hire so let me know if you'd like to try it out.

03.01.2022 The sling library will be available at Blackmans Bay Playgroup tomorrow morning between 9:30 and 11:30 - come down and say hello!

01.01.2022 I like the diagrams on here showing babies being supported from kneepit to kneepit. All good carriers should do this.
