23.01.2022 Islington Baptist Church is excited to announce that Brigades will be running again in 2021 at 180 Maitland Rd, Islington. Although under the auspices of The Boys Brigade Australia, 167 NSW Islington is a combined girls and boys company - the first in NSW. Brigades is an opportunity for your child to learn skills that will help prepare them for the future through fun & games, creativity, and leadership training. Apart from the habits of obedience, reverence, discipline, and... self-respect; boys and girls are encouraged to apply principles such as excellence, loyalty, faithfulness and commitment in all areas of their life, helping them to become the best version of who they can be. Furthermore, brigaders are able to progress onto various awards that they are able to add to their CV’s for when they apply for jobs. One example is The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, an internationally recognised program for young people, building their skills to equip them for life and work by creating opportunities for young people to develop skills, get physically active, give service and experience adventure, and can play a critical role in their development. Fees for Brigades are covered completely using the NSW Government’s Active Kids and Creative Kids vouchers. Brigades is available for kids from kindergarten all the way to year twelve and will meet Monday nights during the school term from 6:30 to 8pm starting 8 February.
