22.01.2022 We all need champions...

22.01.2022 This is a great exercise!

19.01.2022 We are overwhelmed by the amount of attention this video has brought! As a small non-profit that struggles to meet the demand we witness for adventure play, we ...hope that you will consider supporting our work directly by donating: https://play-ground.nyc/donate play:groundNYC is New York's first adventure playground in several decades that is changing the way parents and kids think about free play. #scarymommy #TheYard_NYC #play_groundNYC

19.01.2022 Well, this goes some way to explaining what I like to call the Energizer Bunny effect, when activity makes kids more energetic instead of less!

17.01.2022 Teaching children to write too young is like giving tadpoles jumping lessons. All they will learn is that they can’t do it.

12.01.2022 What happens when children of all different abilities get to play with each other? We take you inside a first-of-its-kind ultra accessible water park, which is changing the way families spend time together.

12.01.2022 What a great idea for a gross motor play break in the classroom!

11.01.2022 Every time you want to say Be Careful! see it as an opportunity to help your child foster greater awareness of their environment and their bodies.

10.01.2022 This playground has tires and cardboard boxes instead of slides and swings

09.01.2022 Sooo... while the research evidence shows that all the most effective handwriting programs do involve writing, it's also great to include some multi-sensory activities as well. And these are great for little people whose hands aren't yet ready for holding pencils. Make sure you know yourself what the correct motor plans are for letter formation though! It's much harder to retrain established habits than to teach them correctly in the first place. When kids are little and aren't ready for printing, lots and lots of drawing, painting, making patterns and hand strength (doing things like opening containers, doing up fastenings, etc) is way better than trying to teach a dynamic tripod grasp of a pencil! IMHO.

09.01.2022 Let's start to see neurodiversity in terms of personal strengths as well as challenges!

08.01.2022 Fun thing to do on a rainy Sunday!

07.01.2022 Can't wait for this!

02.01.2022 When you see something unhelpful or unsafe PAUSE... Get curious and look for ways to help your child feel and do better.

02.01.2022 It turns out that if you tell students about [neuroplasticity], it can have an effect on their brains too. Researchers...published a study in the journal Child... Development in 2007 that found that both morale and grade points took a leap when students understood the idea that intelligence is malleable. Not only did those students who already believed this do better in school, but when researchers actively taught the idea to a group of students, they performed significantly better than their peers in a control group. 02.01.2022 By little and by little, we’re learning . . . Thanks to Parenting Works for the wonderful image

01.01.2022 Have you ever played with a baby and felt a sense of connection, even though they couldn’t yet talk to you? New research suggests that you might quite literally be on the same wavelength, experiencing similar brain activity in the same brain regions.
