23.01.2022 IELTS Exam Essay Writing The Top 5 Errors Do you do any of these? 1.Not fully and convincingly answering the question. ... For the IELTS Task 2 Argument essay you dont need 10 reasons to support your position,3 or 4 are enough. However you need to develop each argument to convince the examiner. Add facts, examples and remember they dont need to be 100% true, exaggerations are ok. 2.Not leaving yourself enough time to check your work for spelling, grammar and word choice errors. Looking at your completed essay with a fresh eye finish then wait for 20 -30 secs. before reading it will give you a good chance to pick up those small mistakes. 3.Not understanding the question properly and usually then answering a different question. For example the IELTS essay question is: Young people today are highly influenced by the media, especially social media e.g Facebook and many have severe body image issues as a result. To what extent do you agree with this statement and what can be done about it? If you just write about the popularity of Facebook and other social media and then talk about your experience with taking selfies and uploading them to FB you wont answer the question. You must discuss the negative comments people made about each others appearance on FB and the comparisons that occur and how these affect young people. 4.Too short. The required word length is 250 words min. If you write less than 240 words it will be noticed easily by the examiner. So dont! However theres no need to count every word, just count the first two lines, divide by two and multiply by the no. of lines you have written. 5.Simple grammar mistakes are important, so work on them. Prepositions, Articles and whether to use plural s or not are all common problems. How do you identify and correct these errors?. 21.01.2022 President Obama gave a very heartfelt speech about gun control in USA today- did you see it? Its on Youtube and deserves to be watched by everyone,not just Americans. Why? Because it shows that even great men in positions of power can, and should show their emotions in public in a positive way. Any kind of violence from weapons, to fists to angry voices should be eliminated in our world. Its a wish, may be a dream,but we should all try to stay in control.Keep calm and smile at each other!

17.01.2022 iSpeak Toastmasters club meets on 1st and 3rd Thurs. of each month in the Sydney CBD. I went along for a fun night last Thurs. Its full of bright, young professionals, dedicated to self-improvement and making everyone feel welcome from all backgrounds and ages. Check it out with a Google or FB search!

12.01.2022 When I speak I teach someone something (even if it is just that I am a self-centred person who likes to hear my own voice) BUT when I Listen I learn something from someone ......and learning is truly magical! Stop learning and we might as well stop breathing.
