14.01.2022 How to repair MacBook Pro not charging issue? This is a 13 MacBook Pro 2015 with retina screen. The laptop works fine when a charger is connected but shuts down immediately when the charge is removed. A service battery message is displayed on the notification section. The customer said the laptop battery has been replaced by another computer shop but still not working. Initial inspection shows no evidence of water damage or corrosion. Connect the MacBook to our metered pow...er supply. The current drawn is 0.027A in standby mode. Replace the battery with a good battery (the battery must be not fully charged, prefer around 50% charged). The current is still 0.027A. This confirms that the problem is on the logic board. 09.01.2022 New Macbook Pro 15" 2018 water damaged, fully functional except the touch bar not working. Apple quoted $2000 for replacing entire logic board. Can we fix it? This latest model was just released few months ago cost $4000+.There is no schematic (electronic circuit diagrams), no chip info available and it is our first time working on this new model. The breaking point was that we noticed the touch bar part number on this mac is the same one used on 2017 model. So the power and... control signals of the connector must be the same! We can refer to the schematic of 2017 model to make "intellectual guess" based on the chips used on this new logic board. After lengthy, cautious, painful 6 hours repair, we finally manage to fix it! The job could have been done within 2-3 hours if schematic available. Just confirm that Apple has removed the "lifeboat" port on this new logic board. There is no way to retrieve data from the on-board SSD chips of a faulty board. If the logic board is not repairable (e.g. CPU damaged), or replaced by Apple genius bar as they always do, all the data will be gone. User must do regular backup to protect data.

05.01.2022 Macbook Air 11" 2015 no Wi-Fi. Apple quoted $700 for replacing the whole logic board. Can we fix? 1. Replace Wi-Fi card with a known good one. Problem persistent, confirm fault on logic board. 2. Check power rail pp3v3_s4, ok. 3. Check power rail pp3v3_wlan, missing. It comes from u3550 wlan switch chip. 4. Check u3550 power supply pp3v3_s5 , ok. ... 5. Check u3550 enable signal smc_wifi_pwr_en, present. 6. u3550 has been provided all the sufficient and necessary conditions but still no output.Conclusion: fautly u3550 chip. 7. Replace u3550 and problem solved, easy fix, one less e-waste produced! Note: u3550 is the chip number on Apple logic board schematic (electronic circuit diagrams).
