17.01.2022 I guess this goes without saying! each and everyone of you are the reason the world keeps healthy, safe and secure.

16.01.2022 From a distance it looks like the worlds focus is on only one thing Covid 19, this is sadly the time when we tend to forget about the basics of being not only physically protected but data protected. With actual hardware firewalls installed into each and every one of our clinics we can prevent the fire before it happens, however being vigilant and making sure do not expose yourself to attacks is more crucial now than ever. Talk to us if you have concerns over your current level of protection - 1300 366 911 or [email protected]

16.01.2022 Good News Friday - Government support for telehealth services extended by six months as toll of coronavirus pandemic continues. The Federal Government will extend subsidised telehealth sessions for an extra six months, as part of a $2 billion top up to keep COVID-19 health measures going during the pandemic. The additional funding will ensure Medicare-subsidised telehealth for general practitioners, nursing, midwifery, allied health and allied mental health services will con...tinue until 31 March 2021. Health Minister Greg Hunt said the scheme, implemented when the pandemic first took hold, has been a "revolution in health delivery". "It was borne from necessity but it's delivered better health care for over 30 million consultations so far," Mr Hunt said. "In particular we know it's been used for over 18 million regular consultations by general practitioners. "It's kept the patients safe, it's kept the nurses safe, it's kept the doctors safe," he said. More than $600 million was initially set aside by the Government in March to expand Medicare subsidies for telehealth services, allowing Australians to have consultations with a range of health professionals via video and phone rather than attend appointments in person. The scheme was due to lapse at the end of September. Telehealth for "essential specialist services", such as consultant physician, geriatrician, and neurosurgery services, will also continue with bulk billing and regular billing practices to apply. Mr Hunt said the package would also support the maintenance of other coronavirus health measures. "There will be support for home medicine delivery, continued free COVID-19 pathology tests, as well as further personal protective equipment, respiratory clinics and the state and private hospital partnership agreement," he said. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the extra money brings the Commonwealth's investment in COVID-19 health responses to $16.5 billion. "By providing telehealth and home delivery medicine services we are reducing the risk of exposure to COVID-19 in the community while also supporting people in isolation to get the care they need."

09.01.2022 R U OK? Day a reminder to reach out It is more important than ever to check in with family and friends this year. Lifting the mental burden can start with a simple question. ‘Are you okay?’... This can seem like a very simplistic question, particularly in the midst of a pandemic. But sometimes that it is the only thing needed to start to lift the mental burden someone may be feeling, according to Associate Professor Craig Hassed, a GP and Senior Lecturer at Monash University. ‘Social isolation can have a very negative effect on mental health, so at any time, but especially in times of adversity, we need meaningful connections and relationships with others,’ he said. ‘Just reaching out to others, showing that we are genuinely interested and care, can make a massive difference to that sense of isolation.’ R U OK? Day, held annually on the second Thursday of September, was co-founded in 2009 by Gavin Larkin to honour his father Barry Larkin, who died by suicide in 1995. Fittingly, this year the national campaign coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day. Eight people die by suicide in Australia every day, with more than 65,000 attempts each year. While there is arguably more information and awareness about mental health than ever before, it can still be challenging to broach a conversation about someone’s mental health. When is it the right time? And what if the person responds that they are not okay? The theme of this year’s R U OK? Day is focused on keeping the conversation going when someone says they are not okay. ‘We acknowledge that sometimes you might feel a little uncomfortable or awkward if someone says they’re not okay,’ R U OK? CEO Katherine Newton said. ‘That’s an understandable reaction and it’s why this year we’re reminding Australians there’s more to say after R U OK? and encouraging them to learn what to say next. ‘It’s important we know how to keep the conversation going, because a conversation really can change a life.’ The national campaign encourages people to: Ask ‘Are you okay?’ Listen with an open mind ‘I’m here to listen if you want to talk more’ and ‘Have you been feeling this way for a while?’ Encourage action ‘Have you thought about speaking to your doctor about this?’ and ‘What do you think is a first step that would help you through this?’ Check in ‘Just wanted to check in and see how you’re going?’ and ‘Have things improved or changed since we last spoke?’
