25.01.2022 When lock-down has me feeling trapped, it is always good to dream....

25.01.2022 Artisan chocolatiers are busy over the Easter period making customized eggs for clients with personalised gifts hidden inside. The gift inside can be anything from jewellery, small toys for children, and even lingerie! One of the most exciting items I have heard about in an Italian Easter egg was a pair of tickets for a flight to a tropical island!

25.01.2022 This will get the house smelling great! Five hours of slowly infusing the quinces with citrus, spice, vanilla and bay leaves flavours, transforms the quinces into a delicious dessert.

25.01.2022 I love this! It might be a bit slow going reloading each view, but on the plus side you get to wander through the Vatican and have it all to yourself! Lynette

22.01.2022 Over the years I have gathered recipes from my friends in Italy. These recipes have become family staples. I have made a collection of some of my favourites and put them into an eBook. Included are also much loved recipes from family and friends in Australia. If you would like the recipe book, just go to our Home Page https://www.italiandelights.com.au/ and click on the download. 21.01.2022 Autumn really brings out the hunter-gatherer in the Italian spirit. Their weekends are filled with countryside expeditions. There are many chestnut forest that fill the hills of Piedmont. You can simply wander along the roadside looking for fallen chestnuts. Stomping on the chestnut to break open the prickly case and removing the glistening chestnut inside is a tricky an painful occupation. But the satisfaction of gathering your own chestnuts is worth it. Then there is the... mountain goat like exploits of the the porcini hunters. The easiest way to spot porcini in the forest is to look from underneath, as the top of the porcini blends well with the leaf litter of the forest floor. Therefore you will find sprightly Italians, old and young scaling steep forest floors with their head down to look for delicious fresh porcini. Hunting season also starts in September. You will see (mainly) men, wandering through farmers fields with their dogs in the lead looking for hare, pheasants, deer and boar. This is also a dangerous time of the year to be out and about as there are many shooting accidents caused by stray bullets. With all of this fresh produce, it is a great time to be in Italy and enjoy the bounty. See more

21.01.2022 In this time of isolation, I thought I would re-post this for a few viewing suggestions. If you would like to add to the list please go ahead. The more the better. Stay safe. Lynette

17.01.2022 They say all good things come to those that wait. This time next year we will be waving goodbye to our guests after the 12 Day Treasures of Tuscany, Umbria and Lombardy Tour. Many of them are waiting out the year with us. Sadly, we all would have been over there together this year and finished the tour on May 30.

01.01.2022 Milan is taking this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take a fresh look at its streets. It will soon introduce one of Europes most ambitious schemes of reallocating street space from cars to cycling and walking, in response to the coronavirus crisis. To begin, 35km of streets will be transformed over the summer with a rapid citywide expansion. Pierfrancesco Maran, one of Milans deputy mayors, said: I think in the next month in Milan, in Italy, in Europe, we will decide part of our future for the next decade. Before, we were planning for 2030; now the new phase, we are calling it 2020. Instead of thinking about the future, we have to think about the present.
