19.01.2022 Check out this awesome Indigenous language resource from ABC’s Awaye! Program, which presents Aboriginal arts and culture from across Australia. https://www.abc.net.au//aw/meditating-in-language/12323306 From Awaye!: The NPY Women's Council has collaborated with developers from Smiling Mind to create a series of mindful meditations - the first of their kind - featuring the voices of Pitjantjatjara, Yankunytjatjara and Ngaanyatjarra speakers from the APY Lands in the north ...of South Australia. The meditations were produced by ngangkari--traditional healers--as part of the Uti Kulintjaku Program. Uti Kulintjaku means 'to think and understand clearly' in Pitjantjatjara. For more information about NPY Ngangkari and the Uti Kulintjaku program, see https://www.npywc.org.au/wha/ngangkari-traditional-healers/

13.01.2022 italk Studios partnered with the Reading Writing Hotline to make literacy resources for adults with low literacy levels. Mission Creek, a story about living and camping out bush, is one of the stories chosen for these resources. The Mission Creek adult literacy learner’s book accompanies the italk animation and also includes a two-part workbook. The books have been a very popular and often requested resource, says Vanessa Forrest from the Reading Writing Hotline. The stor...y resonates with people, not just from the Territory but from other parts of Australia tooIt demonstrates the effectiveness and importance of stories and texts which come from community, rather than being about them. 12.01.2022 Do a Happy Tap! Has your body ever felt jumpy or nervous? Happy tapping can help. Happy tapping uses therapeutic touch to release tension from the body. It’s a gentle tap--not a hit--and it helps calm the mind and body. ... Healthy Outlook Director Susie (Sue) Gregory recently engaged italk Studios to make a video explaining what Happy Tapping is and how it can help people. You can view it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wY63OL6mjxU&feature=youtu.be. The video was supported by funding from the Northern Territory PHN. A shout out to Shaquille Turner for the voiceover and very special thanks to Louie and fellow Areyonga Primary School students!
