23.01.2022 Welcome back to the virtual Umbrian Chapter. It's Monday and we are off to explore the medieval town of Assisi right in the heart of Italy. Its beauty and history will fill you with peace and wonder. With no worries about parking or choosing a restaurant you will have time to wander the picturesque streets, enjoy the guided tours and to build an appetite. Your table is booked at a fine restaurant located high up so you can gaze down at the Town Square and if you wish, indulge in their speciality truffles.

19.01.2022 It's Friday on our Umbrian Chapter virtual tour and it's possible we have saved the best for last with a visit to the ancient ‘dying’ town of Civita di Bagnoregio. The only way in or out of this hillside gem is by a footbridge. To avoid too much climbing, Roscoe will drive you near the main entrance which was cut by the Etruscans 2,500 years ago and from there you will enter a medieval world without tourist traps but with warm stone walls and lanes and stairways full of surprises. Lunch will be at the famous Lago Di Bolsena known to serve some of the best seafood in Italy. The restaurant hovers over the lake on stilts and after lunch you will board a boat for a gentle cruise around this stunning area.

19.01.2022 One more sleep until we arrive in Umbria. It’s Friday and you are in Rome planning to join the group the next day. Will you spend the day savouring the eternal beauty of the city or resting in excited anticipation of what lies ahead? Maybe you need to buy a new swimsuit or visit the hairdresser. For sure you will be planning your wardrobe, making sure you have comfortable shoes and an appetite!

14.01.2022 Thursday: As we continue our virtual Umbria Chapter tour you may wonder how it could get better. We have it covered with a trip to Cortona, Tuscany to discover the incredible Etruscan civilisation that flourished between the 9th and the 3rd centuries BC. You will feel lucky to have a car and a guide because in addition to the finest Etruscan museum in the world, it is a rambling archaeological park filled with astonishing tombs and artefacts. Many visitors would be sad to find that the Michelin starred Relais Chateux Il Falconiere in Cortona doesn’t open for lunch, but we know the owners and have arranged for them to serve their unsurpassed tasting menu just for you. Really.

13.01.2022 Continuing our virtual Umbrian Chapter. Saturday: Roscoe has arrived in his luxury van and you will meet your group for the first time. We will depart the busy streets of Rome and head north through enticing countryside. A short time later we arrive in the village of Ficulle to a family run trattoria off the beaten path where the food is sublime and lunch awaits. What will be your first taste of Umbria this week? It will be hard to go past a delicious antipasto or their famou...s gnocchi. For those with a big appetite we recommend the "bistecca di chianina". There will be time for a stroll around the village before heading to Villa Belissima, your home away from home, to settle in and admire the view. It’s a beautiful evening on our virtual tour so the chef is serving dinner in the al fresco courtyard beneath the stars and overlooking the endless Umbrian landscape.

11.01.2022 A warm welcome back to our virtual Umbrian Chapter tour Tuesday: We suggest a light breakfast today! First we are off to the exquisite wine town of Montepulciano for a wine tasting and lunch in the main square. And then it’s a short drive to the world famous Montalcino winery for a sublime musical performance, and then a brief stop at the natural hot springs of Bagno Vigoni. Will you take the plunge? Now, relaxed and happy, unbelievably your appetite has returned and this magical day continues with dinner at the much lauded Vita Longa vineyard, a place of incomparable beauty, organic excellence and stellar wine production.

11.01.2022 Let's continue our virtual Umbrian Chapter week of bliss. It's Wednesday: A day to take it easy. You might choose to stay at the villa and enjoy the infinity pool, gym, gardens and the many beautiful spaces outside and inside the 300 year-old villa. Or come with us to Siena where you will have time to savour the unique beauty of this Renaissance town and enjoy a personal guided tour of the Basilica. We have arranged lunch at one of the best restaurants in the Piazza Del Campo where you can sit back and marvel at the ingenuity of the famous Square and watch the world go by.

06.01.2022 Our virtual Umbrian Chapter continues. Its Sunday: After a relaxed breakfast at the Villa it’s time to head to Orvieto where your own guide together with the local head of archaeology will take you on a mesmerising tour through 3,500 years of the storied history of this extraordinary town. With your mind swirling with new-found knowledge and understanding we will continue this trip into history with lunch inside the famed ancient grottoes. A leisurely afternoon follows to spend time exploring, shopping or just relaxing in the sunshine.

04.01.2022 Our 2020 Umbrian Chapter should be in Rome today! But due to the pandemic we are at home. So pour yourself a good coffee or a Campari Spritz and come along (virtually) as we experience each day of this special week.

02.01.2022 A lesson to bring a taste of Italy home.
