25.01.2022 The eyes of the world have been on the humanitarian crisis on board the Ruby Princess. The ship is due to set sail in an hour, hear from the ITF and Australian unions leaders before it debarks.

23.01.2022 New Zealalnd's ITF affiliates are coming out in support of the Filipino seafarers exploited by a Fijian shipping company. The unions are writing to their government, asking New Zealand's ministers to raise the case with their Fijian counterparts to ensure a transparent, thorough investigation of the allegations and credible changes to prevent harm to other migrant workers in Fiji. Exploitation and human trafficking cannot be allowed to stand in the Asia-Pacific region, which ...includes Fiji and New Zealand, and the home country of these seafarers: the Philippines. Let's make Asia-Pacific a place where all workers have their rights and entitlements fully enforced - no matter where they come from or where they work.

23.01.2022 After months of this #crewchange crisis getting worse, governments must do their bit. That means that port states where ships dock; flag states where ships are registered; transit hubs with airports; and the home countries of seafarers, all need to make visa, quarantine and border exceptions for seafarers now, not tomorrow, not next week. #WeAreITF #ITFSeafarers

22.01.2022 Aviation is fighting for its survival during the #COVID19 pandemic. We must make bold decisions today that will define the future of the industry and the lives of millions of aviation workers. We've just released demands to both governments and employers that we think will save the aviation industry and help rebuild our global economy and society. Read, share and help us keep the world moving. #WeAreITF #ITFAviation

21.01.2022 On Friday the ITF and the MUA helped seven Burmese seafarers to stand up for their rights to stop working and get off their ship after 14 months on board. The crew change crisis has made it hard for lots of companies to relieve tired and fatigued crew on their ships with fresh crew, with a lack of flights and government border restrictions as the biggest reasons. But there is no excuse for keeping seafarers on board beyond thier contracts and against their will. And when seaf...arers say they want to stand up and enforce their rights - the ITF and our affilaites will support them. Solidarity with the crew of the Unison Jasper. Solidarity with the Independent Federation of Myanmar Seafarers. Solidarity with all seafarers!

20.01.2022 This route was previously serviced by Australian vessels, crewed by local Australian seafarers, and paid Australian wages and conditions, but the last remaining Australian vessel on this run, the CSL Melbourne, was removed from service in 2016. These Australian ships have been replaced by foreign Flag of Convenience vessels, operating under temporary licenses from the Federal Government, and crewed by exploited foreign workers, said Paddy Crumlin.

20.01.2022 The Unison Jasper will sit here for weeks, maybe a month, not moving and not helping Australias economic recovery. That is the cost of ignoring the plight of a tired and fatigued workforce and applying blanket rules to this essential workforce," "This incident was preventable, but preventing it requires action from our leaders. Without action, this wont be the last ship held up, said Dean Summers, the ITF Australia Coordinator.

18.01.2022 Breaking News: Australian Maritime Authorities detain two ships for serious Labour Rights Breaches.

18.01.2022 This year for the first time, we cant march on the streets for #MayDay2020, but that will never stop us demonstrating our strength and solidarity. This crisis, driven by the #COVID19 pandemic, has shown the world what we have always known transport workers keep the world moving. We have always known the critical role that our members play, the pandemic has just opened the rest of the worlds eyes to this. We must translate this into power. #WeAreITF

16.01.2022 Racial justice is union business. The murder of George Floyd on 25 May 2020 is the most recent manifestation of the systemic racism, violence and inequality that has oppressed people of colour historically in communities worldwide. This latest act of violence in the US, despite its long history of civil rights activism, comes as another shocking reminder of the ongoing gravity of this international crisis. The ITF stands committed to the struggle. We stand steadfastly in soli...darity with the oppressed and their communities in the US, and all workers similarly discriminated against around the world. 16.01.2022 We're #LIVE in Sydney where we're calling out what seems like the New South Wales state government's smokescreen for the their failings in the second phase of... the Ruby Princess saga. The inquiry must examine the events of 19 March and beyond. Thats what the crew of the Ruby Princess deserve after being exposed to one of the biggest occupational health and safety calamities of the #COVID19 pandemic in Australia.

12.01.2022 CALL FOR SOLIDARITY SUPPORT: Send a message to the Indonesian President Widodos administration to throw out the anti-worker Omnibus Bill and instead protect Indonesian workers and their families! The working class of Indonesia are opposing attempts by the Government of Indonesia to introduce the Omnibus Bill on Job Creation that seeks to exploit the present Covid-19 crisis in order to reduce wages, remove entitlements and erode workers rights in Indonesia. The government of... President Joko Widodo is arguing that this bill which aims to rewrite 79 laws to deliver greater foreign direct investment, support economic growth and create job opportunities for Indonesians. But the reality is the Omnibus Bill will only harm working people and the environment. For millions of Indonesian workers the Omnibus Bill will: Cut their wage safety net Make work more insecure Remove access to healthcare and retirement entitlements Reduce hard-earned entitlements including severance pay for workers on fixed-term contracts Increase the risk of workplace death and injury by watering down limitations on overtime and working hours Attack their fundamental trade union rights including stripping employer consultation requirements This bill has detrimental effects on workers, human rights and the environment. It must be stopped. ADD YOUR SUPPORT - SIGN AND SHARE NOW! #WeAreITF

10.01.2022 A message from Thomas Mayor, CFMMEU/MUA National Indigenous Officer regarding #BlackLivesMatter. As part of this struggle each and every one of us must call out racism and commit to listening, learning, having hard conversations, and challenging and changing our behaviour in order to end systemic racism, violence and inequality in all forms. Racial justice is union business. #TouchOneTouchAll #WeAreITF

09.01.2022 At least 166 #COVID19 cases have been now linked to the #RubyPrincess cruise ship. In January, the Maritime Union of Australia - MUA warned of gaping holes in Australias biosecurity net and a failure to implement adequate checks for infections on vessels arriving at Australian ports. See Guardian for more: https://bit.ly/39iYtNj #WeAreITF #AusUnions

09.01.2022 The ASU has had a major victory for Aerocare/Swissport aviation workers today, with the FWC agreeing with us that the substandard Aerocare Agreement should neve...r have been approved. Weve said from the beginning this agreement is not fair for workers. Aviation workers are doing it tough and deserve a better deal than what Swissport tried to give them. This is a great win for Swissport employees who deserve the same pay and conditions as their colleagues at other ground handlers and airlines. And it is an important win for all workers in the Aviation industry, protecting our hard won wages and conditions across the industry. #byyourside

09.01.2022 ITF Australian national coordinator Dean Summers has again slammed the Australian Government's treatment of seafarers on board the Ruby Princess. "Get them off the ship and isolate them somewhere else... They just want to be treated like the passengers, like everybody else, with a bit of dignity." "Who would make a decision to send a ship with sick people on it away from three hospitals and towards a regional centre... To try and hide it behind a coal stockpile and so the ship is going to be covered in coal dust and out of sight, out of mind, it is an unjustifiable position." #WeAreITF #COVID19 #AusUnions

03.01.2022 The ITF has joined with the global union family to condemn many Indian states who have used the #coronavirus crisis to undermine labour laws and attack workers rights. The changes pushed through undemocratically by executive orders have seen workers hours extended from 8 to 12 hours, and suspensions and exemptions granted for existing labour laws. No government should use this crisis to attack workers' rights. Add your voice to the growing global outrage against the Modi government's brutal, continued assault on workers' rights and the union movement: https://bit.ly/2CC3vtx
