25.01.2022 It will be my 4th year working for myself on 22 August and this year has gone a bit cray crazy When you a small business owner, there are so many things you need to worry about e.g. product/service, social media, budget, taxes etc. I love working in the Travel Industry but I hate the "TAXES" side of thing. The first 3 years I avoided doing my taxes and it bite me in the bum real badly.... That's when I got in contact with Ivy Lian from Ivy Growth Partners who pretty much fixed up all my taxes drama. I had a big taxes fine and she managed to reduce the cost which helped me a lot. Not only that, but she said that since I'm a Sole Trader, I should pay salary to myself. 23.01.2022 I have personally stayed here and highly recommend anyone to check this property out. This is in Sanctuary Point which is about 2.5 hr drive. Cool things about this place 4 bedrooms (Master is on top floor with its own en-suite and massive bathroom). 8 people.... Massive open living area that connect to the kitchen Fire place Beach view from the deck 1 min walk down to the beach There is no wifi here so it's kinda cool to just switch off or you can always use your phone. If you want more data, you can get a data sim pack for $5 - 40GB with Kogan then hotspot it. Price from $500 with 2 nights minimum stay. We did 2 nights and definitely not enough. 17.01.2022 What a great news!!!!!! Garry and Jo were in Malaysia back in March and the government was closing its border so they needed to get home asap. This has happened while I was in Bangkok! I still remember the mad rush when I woke up and jumped on the laptop to find a way to get them back urgently. Had to be on the phone with ticketing for half a day, calling from Bangkok to Sydney. Eventually got their tickets reissued while they were on the way to the airport!... Once they got back, I helped them with their travel insurance paperwork and now they got most of their refund back! Their claim got rejected but they fought back the effort has paid off! 17.01.2022 I usually post daily but nothing has caught my eyes and I just didn't want to post any boring things My friend is turning 40 next month and she wants to do a getaway with the group. I have volunteered to do research and I love seeing new places. In the last 3-4 days, I have gone through more than 100 properties and spent a lot of time checking every details to make sure we find the perfect place.... When I saw this property, I was like "OMFG ", I need to stay here but it's not pet friendly so I had a little cry and had to move on. 14.01.2022 Yesterday we did a sailing trip to Whitsunday islands and it was pretty much raining all day We tried to make the most of it but wish the cruise tour cancel the trip. They were fully booked so there was about 70 people on board and the indoor area can only accommodate 40-50 with seating and 30 of those has table for people to have lunch. The rest you just have to stand and eat while the cruise was unstable. The tour said we couldn't get refund but can change the date onl...y which we are here for 2 more days and the rest of the week will be raining so we had no choice. If they want to charge us cancellation fee of 20-30% to cover their cost then we'd be happy to cop the fine. 12.01.2022 Last night Scott wanted to do face mask and I totally forgot that I bought this from my last Japan trip I used to buy souvenirs for family and friends but eventually stopped cus I didn't see the point if it's not really unique or funny. 11.01.2022 So over the weekend went to Leura to drop off our client's order but got to check out a few things beforehand. This is the first time we visited Leura and I have to say it's much nicer than Katoomba. It's like a cute and cool little street with boutique shops, cafes and restaurants. Our client's shop is called Teddy Sinclair where they sell unique gifts like leather bags, jewelry etc. They are also pet friendly so you can bring your fur babies along. If we had time we would... have stayed longer and have lunch at The Oak Brasserie Leura cus they have outdoor area. We also went to the Sublime Lookout where you can see the 3 Sister in the rear There was no crowd so it was really nice. There was also another restaurant with an amazing view called Echoes Restaurant but we didn't go there cus of time and they weren't pet friendly. So if you need to do a mini getaway, go to Leura! 09.01.2022 Since it's been raining, we couldn't go to the beach or do much so we decided to check out a few local hot spots like Blacks beach, Cape Hillsborough. The highlight had to be Eungella as the cloud was just beautiful. This was meant to be a good look out point for sunset and trekking but obviously we didn't get to do that due to the rain. Let me enlighten you When my clients contact me for holidays, they'd give me their budget, where they want to visit, what they want to do etc. My job is to do research based on their requirements and I'd go through at least 50-100 properties until I find the one. Can you imagine the time and effort to do this? ... These pics are from properties that I had to go through so that my clients wouldn't have to. The outsides look nice but inside was TERRIBLE! My clients don't have to pay extra for my service as when they book their holiday with me, accommodations and suppliers pay me small commission so that's how I get paid. You can just do the normal $49 entry fee but I'd highly recommend to upgrade to the next package up where you pay an extra $50 which you will get the following: Early entry Viewing platform Free flow drinks with alcohol Canape ... The above goes for about 30-45 mins before sunset. We got picked up from our resort at 6.50pm and back at 9pm. Since the only 1 restaurant open until 10pm, for dinner either have an early one before you go or buy something from IGA to have it later if you want something light. Canape at the Field of Light wasn't that amazingly tasty but enough to just get you by. 07.01.2022 Long Post Alert Today is my 4th year anniversary with itravel and I do have mix emotions I didn't realise it was my anniversary today til I got a notification from HQ. When I saw it I was about to cry cus of all this BS covid19 and since March, I have only been cancelling, changing booking and refund All the hard work and effort I have put in for my clients were undone and having to pay back out of my own pocket. I think I have cried about 10 times in the last 5 months... cus I don't know what's going to happen in my industry that I'm so passionate about. But I'm not a type of person who to give up easily. I've taken over Scott's business called FR33 EARTH where we sell wood watches, sunglasses, vegan wallets, cork caps and natural rubber thongs. At first I was like " WTF am I doing" but soon realised that the things I've learnt from my travel business can apply to this as well. I've also up skilled and learnt how to use Canva ( Design Website Tool), Later, dealing with suppliers, retailers, interact more with social media community and B2B Market places. The business is growing slowly and getting there. One of my long lost friend also been stalking what I'm doing for FR33 EARTH, like what I do and now wants me to help him do his Social Media! That was a real big compliment and a pad on the back for me. I'm also working on another project, creating a Pet Travel bed to sell online which Pixie is my main inspiration. So as much as travel is not working out for me and to a lot of my friends in the same or any industries, there is always another way out as long as you don't give up and maintain your attitude. If you didn't know this but my fav drink is Long Island Ice Tea Because Uluru was super hot, I thought why not get the bartender to make my drink as a slushy and it turned out amazing! At Sails in the Desert resort, there are 2 ways of getting your drinks. Pool bar or inside the restaurant. Pool bar opens at 11am - 3pm but they are under staff at the moment so this can take a bit of time to get your order. When we were there, they only assign 1 person who has only bee...n working at the resort for 3 weeks doing breakfast and lunch waiting and one morning, he was told that he needs to work at the pool bar. Poor guy never bartend in his life and didn't have any training so when I asked him to make my long island ice tea, he had to Google it. It turned out great so hats off to Stephen. If the pool bar is busy with people lining up and you want your drinks and snacks, just go inside instead as there are more staffs there. 03.01.2022 We are doing a day trip to Day Dream Island and you must must must visit Lovers Cove. It's a small Coral beach so bring a pair of reef shoes, snorkel gear ( this mask is bloody amazing cus it doesn't fog up, breath so easily and you can talk), towel, water etc. We regret not bringing any alcohol like a frozen rose with us.
