10.01.2022 Hello there! In this current period of doom and gloom, we here at INRS Support Services just wanted to say a few things, to hopefully allay concerns you might have. The best defence we have at this time is personal hygiene. Toward that end, ensure you wash your hands thoroughly.... A great resource for this is the Safe Hands challenge, posted by the World Health Organisation, you can find it here. Ensure you practice social distancing: If you have to cough or sneeze, ensure you use your elbow, or a tissue, which you then discard. Avoid touching your face. Don’t believe everything you read on the internet, but one little thing I thought I’d pass on that may have some merit: Don’t forget the soles of your shoes for some cleaning attention, as it may possibly transfer nasties into your house. If you think you might have the virus, check your symptoms here: https://www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-identifyin, or download the app: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Symptom Checker. If you do have the symptoms, call the hotline first (don’t just go to hospital or your doctor): 1800 675 398. If you do go to your Doctor’s surgery, be prepared for staff suited up in personal protective equipment with thermometers greeting you. Remember to take breaks from the constant bombardment over the media (it does get wearing), and go do something fun, read a book, find a new hobby, start (or maintain) a garden, listen to music, watch a movie, play a game. Don’t forget to check on your neighbours (if you have good relations with them) and see how they are going, remember, to use the fence as a barrier (see Wilson as above) to maintain social distancing. If you are feeling overwhelmed, there are places to help. If we are scheduled to meet with you and you feel sick, let us know and we can cancel/ reschedule. NDIS guidelines currently say 10 business days is acceptable for a cancellation, we are sticking to our 24 hours. As you have probably noticed, we are largely catching up over the phone, to ensure we don’t inadvertently transfer the condition to you. Let us know if you found any of this helpful and would like further updates. Take care and Wash Your Hands! The INRS Team
