25.01.2022 It's no secret that 2020 was a very hard year for fundraising! So many fundraising events were cancelled and sales avenues were closed. We lost about 50% of our fundraising and we are now more dependent on donors than ever before. It take approximately $30,000USD a month for all our programs in Cambodia to be able to run effectively. Our SHE Rescue Home is a high security home for girls under the age of 16 with rental costs, a full time guard service, around the clock care ...from housemothers as well as basic care of food, clothing and education. Our restoration program requires trained counsellors and social workers to support the girls recovery from horrific trauma, help families become safe havens for girls to return to and continue our 3 year reintegration program for girls once they are home! 24.01.2022 Panha* was welcomed into the SHE Rescue Home over a year ago after being rescued on the Thai Border. It has been a long hard year of waiting but her court case has finally been scheduled. However, as they were arrested in Thailand the court case is being tried in a Thai court. Testifying is always a hard time for any child as they have to relive traumatic memories. Our counsellors and house mothers always pay extra attention to a girls behaviours during their court trials to... ensure they do not cause harm to themselves or their relationships as they process such heavy emotions. However, Panha* will also have to testify in another country with different customs and languages - a very daunting prospects. As she can not travel due to COVID19 border controls it is possible she will have to testify over a video creating even more barriers. 22.01.2022 Our SHE Transitions Home is for girls over the age of 16 how need somewhere safe to live while they work or study in Phnom Penh. Girls like Sokmeng*! Sokmeng* is 21 years old and in her last year of high school. Sokmeng* was living in one of our partner organisations after being rescued from human trafficking. Once she turned 18 she had to leave the organisation and her only option for reintegration was her family in the provinces. 16.01.2022 Kakada* (18) has been at the SHE Rescue Home for 3 years working towards becoming a seamstress. She had finally found a job in a safe and ethical environment... And then pandemic happened. Her job was closed for many months but thankfully she was able to expand her skills in our SHE Sewing Centre and earn a wage helping complete some of our custom orders. Her workplace reopened at the end of the year and she loved being back at work again. However it was a short lived reprie...ve. This month there is another outbreak in Cambodia and they have closed again. During this time in Cambodia we have seen so many lives turned completely upside down with over 200 factories closing each employing more than 1000 people.
